While roaming the vast expanses of the Indian Ocean, young pirates can meet many enemy ships or even find a few true friends, but not everyone needs this. Many players prefer quiet story-based gameplay without anyone disturbing them. Those players may be wondering whether they can play Skull and Bones solo, and whether the game has a single-player mode. Unfortunately, the answer is not so simple.

Of course, the game offers excellent interaction with NPCs, unique investigations that allow you to delve into the history of the world, and even some storylines. But it will be challenging to avoid interaction with other players completely.

Can You Play Skull and Bones Solo?

Unfortunately, Skull and Bones does not have a separate single-player mode. You cannot run the game in your world and completely exclude encounters with other players. When you launch Skull and Bones, you will find yourself on an online server with many other players. However, that doesn't mean you can't play solo. Of course, such a decision will automatically raise the difficulty level of your adventures, but no one has the right to prohibit you from doing this.

All you need to do to play solo is not interact with other players and not join alliances. You can think of encounters with real people as procedurally generated random encounters, which can be compared to a random dragon attack in Skyrim. And it won't interfere with your game in any way.

Since Skull and Bones offers players a giant map with tons of points of interest, a lot of well-developed NPCs, and many separate storylines, you can safely play alone without paying attention to others. Ignore messages from other players or think of them them as NPCs, and you will forget that you are playing on an online server after a couple of hours.

In addition, the distances between points of interest are relatively large, and the number of players on each server is relatively small. You can easily play alone if you don't seek out encounters, or even avoid them. Still, keep in mind that some players are not going to give you a peaceful life. Having friendly relationships with multiple players increases your chances of survival. So be prepared for a high difficulty level when starting a solo path.

Finally, it is worth adding that no game activity obliges you to interact with real players, since the game always has alternative single paths. Play for your own enjoyment, and no one will dare to interfere with your adventures.
