Spending any extended amount of time at sea is always going to be a hard-living, and in Skull and Bones, that has gameplay consequences. The more stamina a crew expends, the less likely they will be able to sustain high speeds and explore effectively. This can become an issue when trying to chase down ships or trying to make an escape, even more so when the wind is not in your favor.

Therefore, it is vital for all ship captains to understand just how the mechanics of stamina works in the game. Doing so will allow you to work more effectively with your crew and make it easier to sail the high seas and get to where you need to be without a fuss. This guide will show you just how to increase and restore the crew's stamina in Skull and Bones.

Skull and Bones is heavily inspired by Assassin's Creed, yet it seems to have taken inspiration from the wrong parts of the iconic franchise.

Crew Stamina in Skull and Bones

Stamina is used whenever players raise the sails to the maximum level, and depending on the ship you are currently on, there are several levels to climb. Look at the meter at the bottom right of the screen. If the sails are raised to the top and the meter is green, this means that the sails are trimmed to the max and will provide the most speed while sailing at the cost of the crew's stamina.

If all of their stamina is used up, captains will no longer be able to travel at the top speed until they recover. So always keep that in mind while out at sea.

Increasing and Restoring Crew Stamina in Skull and Bones

In order to manage stamina well, players must alternate between top speed and the levels below. Any sailing speed below the maximum will still allow players to move about swiftly, and at the same time, it allows for the crew to recover their stamina. This is particularly useful for catching your breath after moving quickly in battle and is made even more effective when the wind is at your back.

Eating Food

For a more immediate way of restoring stamina, the crew can consume cooked food and meals that will replenish their stamina. There are three main categories of food that help with this. Raw ingredients like Flour, Shark Meat, and more can give a 25% boost in stamina, whereas grilled items can provide up to 60% recovery in stamina.

The best effect is from cooked meals, which can only be created using an assortment of ingredients. On top of stamina restoration, they also provide additional buffs to stamina regeneration, repair kit efficiency, and even reduced stamina consumption.

Ship Furniture

The furniture placed on a ship can also affect the overall stamina of a crew. These include:

  • War Drums - -50% stamina consumption while trimming sails in combat.
  • Water Tank - -50% stamina consumption when bracing; +20% stamina recovery.
  • Sterile Galley - +7% maximum stamina.
  • Leather Rope Grips - -15% stamina consumption when trimming sails.
  • Rum Pantry - +10% stamina recovery.

Pirate Bonfires

Pirate Bonfires

Another way to give a boost to stamina is to utilize the Pirate Bonfires that can be found in outposts. Interacting with these areas will ignite the bonfire, granting a 20-minute-long stamina boost for the player and their group after exiting combat within the area of the outpost.
