Skull and Bones is an open-world pirate RPG where players can travel the seas alone or with friends as they try to become a famous pirate Kingpin. They can explore freely or take on contracts and quests to earn extra cash and infamy. But the first thing players can do is get a mighty ship and make it their own.

Ships can be fully customized in Skull and Bones, including their name, appearance, and weaponry. Players must first craft their ship using a Shipwright for a small price of Silver Coins and materials, but once it's theirs, they can edit it any time they want. All kinds of styles range from classic to downright terrifying, so this guide has everything players need to know if they're going to customize their pirate ships in Skull and Bones.

Players will partake in furious naval battles in Ubisoft's Skull and Bones. Here is how to make repairs to your vessel.

How to Customize Ships in Skull and Bones

Skull and Bones Manage Ship

One of the first missions players are encouraged to do when they dock at Sainte-Anne is to get a ship crafted by talking to the Shipwright. Doing this is easy; players only need a few pieces of Acacia to build it. They can then access it once they set sail.

Setting sail opens up a "Manage Ship" menu, where players can choose which ship they want to sail with, manage their cargo, manage their ship, and repair it. They can also Fast Travel from this menu.

How to Add Weapons, Furniture, and Armor

Skull and Bones Add Weapons to Ships

Ships have a set amount of space for furniture and weapons and can equip one set of armor at a time. Players can sometimes receive these items as rewards for completing missions, but they can also be crafted by visiting a blacksmith or a carpenter. Players must purchase or loot blueprints before crafting furniture, weapons, and armor. They will also need to have all the required materials and Silver Coins.

Once built, they will be sent to the ship's cargo and can be viewed when players set sail. The "Manage Ship" menu has tabs for all ship equipment. Players can assign their weapons, furniture, and armor by selecting them and clicking "Equip."

How to Add Cosmetics

Skull and Bones Ship Cosmetics

Unlike ship specialization items, cosmetics do not affect gameplay. Ship cosmetics allow players to edit aspects, including but not limited to:

  • The Sail
  • Figureheads
  • Crew Look
  • Pets
  • Helm Decor
  • Fireworks
Skull and Bones Edit Ship Name

Each cosmetic has a menu with available options. There are some free ones, but most must be purchased with Silver Coins, Pieces of 8, or from the online store. Players can change their ship's customization as much as they want. If players want to follow a theme, there are sets, but everything is also itemized and can be mixed and matched.
