After years of fan demand, Skate 4 was finally revealed during 2020's EA Play showcase, with developer Full Circle confirming it was in the works. However, the team made it clear that the long-awaited sequel was in the early stages of development, and that hasn't changed in the year since, with the studio announcing yesterday that it wasn't going to be attending this year's EA Play as it was still hard at work on the game.
That being said, Full Circle did tease that it had a little something for fans dropping today, and that sneak peek has just hit the game's official Twitter account. Titled "We're Working on It," the teaser doesn't show off any of the new Skate itself, although it does reveal the reactions of several major fans of the franchise, including content creators, skaters, and influencers.
These include names like Avalanche, Una Farrar, ZexyZek, Skate3Tommy, and Rico Nasty. Their comments paint an interesting picture of the sequel despite Full Circle not showing any gameplay, with one reaction even claiming the upcoming title reminded them a lot of Skate 2. Alongside that, players get a glimpse at the tech behind the new game, including a look at several skaters performing tricks while dressed up in mocap suits. The clip itself is brief but reaffirms that Full Circle's aim is to make a sequel for the fans.
For those who missed its unveiling last year, the newest Skate's announcement came via a video from directors Cuz Parry and Deran Chung, with the pair confirming that a new game was in development. The reveal came after years of fan requests, with Skate and its two sequels becoming revered cult classics that still have active communities to this day. With the reveal arriving so early into its development, it's safe to assume Skate 4 is still years away, although fans are incredibly excited for it regardless.
This new look at Skate is the first of many reveals coming from EA in the next few days, with the company preparing to air its latest EA Play broadcast on Thursday. The stream will discuss an array of upcoming titles, with early predictions citing FIFA, Madden, and a few other annual franchises as likely bets to make an appearance. Fans do know a few series that won't show up though, including Dragon Age, Mass Effect, and Star Wars. As mentioned earlier, Skate also won't appear, with the devs stating yesterday that it was too early to offer a full reveal.
