EA might be preparing to finally show off Skate 4, officially known simply as Skate, at the upcoming Summer Game Fest Showcase. It's been well over 10 years since Skate 3, which was released in 2010. Since then, fans of skateboarding games have been clamoring for the next Skate installment, as the genre as a whole sadly fizzled out during the 2010s.

11 years after Skate 3, in 2021, EA announced it had spun up a new studio named Full Circle to handle development of the brand-new Skate 4. It's since been confirmed to be free-to-play and will look to lean into a live service-style experience. Skate 4 was being playtested as early as 2022, and a portion of its open world map was leaked online just last year. EA and Full Circle have largely kept major details about the game and its world airtight since its announcement, though they're now beginning to give fans just a bit more.

How Skate 4 Could Improve the Series' Customization Options

The Skate series has set a high standard for customization, and Skate 4 has the potential to further expand the player's creative options.

Now, in the leadup to Summer Game Fest on June 7, the Skate 4 Twitter account is getting up to some interesting antics. The entire account has transformed into that of a fictional corporation's named M-Corp, a conglomerate based out of Skate 4's San Vansterdam city. One recent tweet links to M-Corp's website which is drenched in fun 1990's-style pop-up ads. The site leads to Skate 4's real website, which encourages fans to sign up to playtest the game as it continues to be developed.

Skate is Being Teased for Summer Game Fest

While this isn't a concrete confirmation that Skate 4 will show up on Geoff Keighley's stage, the fact that the M-Corp takeover of the game's Twitter account happened just a few days out from the show makes it seem so. Additionally, EA is included on Summer Game Fest's wall of participating publishers and developers. Since EA isn't holding its own EA Play event during this year's Summer Game Fest, it only makes sense that the SGF showcase would be its home to show off its new trailers and announcements.

Skate 4 isn't the only EA game that could potentially show face at Summer Game Fest either. Namely, BioWare's long-awaited Dragon Age: Dreadwolf is still holding onto its 2024 release window. If EA is indeed still planning to release the massive fantasy RPG this year, it must begin rolling out story and gameplay trailers at some point soon. That said, it's not unheard of for a big publisher such as EA to show up at a Geoff Keighley event with more than one game to show off, so gamers hoping to see Skate 4 shouldn't worry about the swirling Dreadwolf rumors.
