Preparing for the Mountain Climb Excursion
The Mountain Climb Excursion is a physical event that takes players on an outdoor journey. It heavily features Rock Climbing and tests Sims' survival skills. To ensure they complete the event successfully and, in some cases, avoid death, players should ensure they have the right equipment and skill level.
Build Rock Climbing Skill
Rock Climbing, while affected by Fitness, has its own skill meter. It is considered a major skill, so it goes up to level ten. Players can increase it in a few ways, but the quickest is to practice on the smaller climbing walls in Mt. Komorebi. Players can also purchase skill books from any bookshelf to work on the skill at home. Additionally, players that own the Fitness Stuff pack can purchase and place a Rock Climbing Wall in Build/Buy mode.
Purchase Gear and Supplies
Since the excursion is, at heart, an outdoor adventure, Sims should prepare to take on nature's challenges. Many supplies, such as energy bars, bug repellents, and protein bars, will assist during the excursion. Sims should also invest in a set of Climbing Gear, which can be ordered from a computer. However, its quality does start to deteriorate after a while, and must be replaced after a few uses.
How to Complete the Mountain Climb Excursion
The Mountain Climb Excursion is found in the Event panel as a goaled event. Players will need an excursion leader and at least one other team member to participate. Having a Rock Climbing level of at least eight is recommended before planning or starting an excursion. There are four levels, and each has a set of goals. Players must earn a Silver medal to progress to the next destination, which also means some rewards are in the mix.
Yukimatsu
The Mountain Climb excursion begins in Yukimatsu at the wall near the top of the ski lift. The wall is medium-sized, so as long as the conditions are clear, Sims shouldn't have much of a problem with it. The excursion goals to complete this level include the following:

- Have the group members meet at the Trail Map Marker at the top of the climbing wall
- Secondary Goals:
- Check Excursion Leader's Climbing Readiness
- Check Excursion Member's Climbing Readiness

The next level is at the Mt. Komorebi Base Camp. Sims will have to cross a bridge to get to the next climbing wall and Trail Map Marker, but there is a tent they can stop at on the way to take care of their needs quickly. The excursion goals to complete this level include:

- Gather Excursion members near the Trail Map Marker at the top of the climbing wall
- Secondary Goal:
- Inspect Climbing Route Conditions
- Climb Up a Rock Wall
- Have a Sim rest for at least an hour

The Croft Icefall
The Croft is the most challenging area to traverse because it has the tallest climbing wall. Therefore, Sims should ensure their gear and needs are in tip-top shape before climbing the wall. The goals to complete this level are:

- Gather Excursion members near the Trail Map Marker at the top of the climbing wall
- Secondary Goals:
- Have a Sim eat something
- Light a Bonfire
- Have a Sim climb courageously

Mt. Komorebi Peak
The peak is the final destination in the Mountain Climb Excursion. Once Sims make it there, they have completed the event. They can take the time to celebrate, snap a cute photo, or even build on the 20x20 lot atop the cliff. There are no more goals, but Sims do earn a Mountain Climbing Beanie and 300 Simoleons once the event has ended.
