The Sims franchise as a whole is iconic because it has allowed an entire generation of fans to create thousands of worlds in their design. From the first Sims game to The Sims 4, all the way to the development of "Project Rene" -- rumored to be Sims 5 -- the community of players, Sims influencers, and third-party content creators continues to grow. The Sims 4 will leave behind some mixed reviews of when its successor takes the lead, including criticism toward technical issues.

While The Sims 4 introduced Sims that had varied and dynamic emotional states, new levels of immersion for parenting in The Sims 4: Parenthood, and new features and mechanics across all age groups, one aspect of the game will be ever-enduring. The Sims 4 produced a wide variety of glitches, ranging from innocent and funny quirks all the way to terrifying and sometimes game-breaking issues. In the game industry, glitches are sometimes thought of as built-in mechanics; there are some great glitches in The Sims 4 that The Sims 5 could keep as part of the game's functionality.

The Sims 4 Body Horror Glitch Is Perfect For A Sims 5 Halloween DLC

Sims 4 Demon Baby Glitch

The Sims 4 community has experienced a wide variety of glitches, but none are as terrifying as the body horror glitch. This error makes Sims bodies appear distorted and contorted in strange shapes, from morphed demon baby heads to exercising Sims that become completely unrecognizable. While this glitch is eerie at times, it does produce a unique effect that would be perfect as part of a Sims horror or Halloween DLC. A future expansion pack akin to the Sims 4: StrangerVille can lead to Sims being randomly contorted or twisted through curses, scientific experimentation, or worse.

The Sims 5: Beauty and the Beast Expansion Pack

Sims 4 object Phase Glitch

One glitch gives a new meaning to having a "bed head." Sims tend to get themselves stuck in tables, floating through floors, and more, leading to some of the more comical glitches in The Sims 4 While these glitches typically don't interrupt normal gameplay, there are times when Sims get stuck with random furniture as part of their bodies. This glitch is straight from Beauty and the Beast, and can definitely break immersion when a toddler's head becomes a lamp post. This glitch could be introduced in The Sims 5 as potential superpowers, a new mode of travel, or even a trait given to alien Sims trying to assimilate into Earthling sim culture.

The Sims 5 Could Adopt The Sim 4's Random Nudity Glitch

Sims 4 streaking

The Sims 2: University introduced a new kind of NPC called "streakers," party animal Sims who would randomly enter a college lot and run around without clothes on, dancing in front of other Sims and generally causing chaos. The Sims 3 and The Sims 4 added mechanics that allow player Sims to streak, running around nude and causing mischief. Unfortunately, The Sims 4 for the Xbox has a strange glitch that makes Sims appear nude randomly and without warning; players' Sims might become nude when playing chess, going to work, and more. This is actually a fun dose of randomness that The Sims 5 should take advantage of, bringing back the bizarre quirkiness of the original Sims games.

The Sims 5 Should Make The Sims 4: My Wedding Stories Glitches Official

Sims 4 wedding

The Sims 4: My Wedding Stories was released with many bugs, a phenomenon that made playing through the expansion pack incredibly frustrating for players. At the top of the list were glitches that made it impossible for Sims to get married. These included not being able to complete the required tasks for each event, lost wedding cakes, no guests in attendance, and even Sims never making it to their weddings at all.

The Sims 5 could actually turn these glitches into random "superstitious" events that spook the wedding party before the big day. It's realistic for some issues to occur during big events, and those hiccups can force the people involved to question if they're doing the right thing. The same kind of drama could work wonders in The Sims.

The Sims 4 is available now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
