The free Sims 4 Infants update is live, and while exploring the various gameplay aspects included in it, gamers have noticed that there are no changing stations. The Sims 4 has been out for nearly nine years, and many game packs and free updates have been added over time to ensure that fans keep enjoying the game. Many fans thought that a few aspects were lacking, namely family gameplay and Sim babies. There have been Sims 4 paid packs such as Parenthood and High School Years that added this type of content, but it was all drip-fed over the years, was locked behind a paywall, and never broached the issue with newborns.

Fortunately, a while back The Sims Team announced that they would be releasing a free content update that would add an entirely new life stage to The Sims 4: infants. This new life stage would separate newborn babies and toddlers, making the aging up phase from one to the other much more gradual and realistic. A few months after its announcement, the update finally went live on March 14, and as fans booted up their game to try out the new features, they soon noticed that something was wrong.

Infants can't learn the Potty Skill nor use the potty chair. They instead use their diapers, which must be changed later, just like newborns. It wasn't too long after playing that gamers noticed a problem: the Sim changing the infant throws the diaper on the ground after performing the task. When faced with this issue, most players went into Build-and-Buy mode to purchase a changing table, and that's when they realized that there were no options at all. This feature will only be available for those who purchase the Sims 4 Growing Together expansion pack.

Some community content creators have pointed out their disappointment regarding this decision from The Sims Team, especially since two of the changing stations that will be added with the Sims 4 Growing Together pack match the base game furniture. It is a simple gameplay option, and it would make a lot of sense to have it when the player has infants in their household.

The Growing Together expansion and the free Sims 4 Infant update were scheduled with a two-day release difference because the additional content that they provide is very much alike. However, most fans believe that basic gameplay features such as diaper changing tables shouldn't be locked behind a paywall.

The Sims 4 is available on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
