For years, The Sims 4 has given players a place to express their creativity and build meaningful relationships between their virtual human characters. The Sims universe also celebrates life in other forms and excels at creating vast worlds, each brimming with diverse ecosystems and furry, scaly, or feathered friends waiting to be discovered. They are not just beautiful landscapes but also habitats for a variety of species including fish, woodland creatures, household pets, and even farm animals.

10 Willow Creek

Base Game

Although few, there are some animals in the base game world, Willow Creek, including ducks, fish, and frogs.
  • Number of Animals: 3

Both new players and professional Simmers often flock to the base game world Willow Creek, inspired by New Orleans. Its rolling hills and marshy riverways are home to iconic Sims 4 families like the Goths and the Pancakes.

There's not much in Willow Creek when it comes to wildlife, but some have spotted ducks swimming in the bayou or nearby ponds. Unfortunately, to many players' discontent, Sims cannot interact with the ducks. They can, however, catch and breed frogs for their collection or catch fish to keep as "pets" of a sort. They come free of any responsibilities because Sims cannot do anything more than look at them. These animals are available in many other worlds in The Sims 4, which is why Willow Creek tends to be outclassed.

9 Forgotten Hollow

Vampires DLC

There are bats and crows in the Sims 4 Vampires world, Forgotten Hollow.
  • Number of Animals: 2

The small, spooky town of Forgotten Hollow may look bleak and lifeless, but it offers two new animals to The Sims 4. Sims visiting or residing in Forgotten Hollow may notice crows flying about to add to the Gothic, Victorian style of the world. The crows are only for aesthetic effect, however, and cannot be interacted with.

Crows aren't the only flying creatures this world has to offer. Some vampire Sims can transform into bats that can soar through the night sky towards their destination. Two flirtatious Sims in bat form can even "Woohoo As Bats" or "Try For A Baby As Bats."

8 Glimmerbrook

Realm Of Magic DLC

The world from the Realm of Magic pack, Glimmerbrook, has many familiars for animal-lovers
  • Number of Animals: 7

Glimmerbrook is the world that comes from the Realm of Magic game pack. Sims can travel to the Magic Realm through the Magic Portal, where they can become a spellcaster and practice magic. Fortunately for animal lovers, spellcasters can enlist the help of animal familiars who protect them and help with skill building.

There are twelve familiars for players to choose from, seven of which can be considered animals. Take the raven or the Sixam owl, for example, who fit in nicely with the spooky content in The Sims 4. Slightly more uncommon and fantastical are the dragon and the phoenix. Players with a desire for something more magical can try the bunnerfly, the glowfrog, or the snub-nosed leaf bat. If none of these options seem intriguing, spellcasters can bind their cats or dogs to them as familiars.

7 Moonwood Mill

Werewolves DLC

Moonwood Mill, the world from the werewolf pack, allows players to play as werewolves and is perfect for animal-lovers.
  • Number of Animals: 1

Sims can play as this highly rated animal-adjacent occult species in any world, but werewolves are especially prevalent in Moonwood Mill from the Werewolves game pack. Werewolves are the biggest predators in the area, so players won't find a lot of other animal species. However, the care and depth that The Sims 4 team put into this occult species boosts its ranking significantly.

Customize werewolves in Create-A-Sim with patterns and the fan-coveted color wheel. Like vampires, werewolves have skill trees that grant them special powers and abilities that make their lives easier. For example, Immortal Wolf can help werewolf Sims live forever, while the Tunneler ability grants the Sim access to secret tunnels for quick transportation.

6 Selvadorada

Jungle Adventure DLC

There are a few animals in the Jungle Adventure world of Selvadorada for animal-lovers to enjoy.
  • Number of Animals: 7

Many players may not know it, but Selvadorada from the Jungle Adventure game pack comes with many hidden animals and creatures. This destination world is inspired by Latin and Central America with its rich culture and remnants of an ancient civilization. Some of the jungle's native species include colorful parakeets, chomping crocodiles, and funky little iguanas.

There are plenty of critters that pose a threat to a Sim's comfort and safety in the jungle and throughout the ancient temples. A stray snake may be found slithering across the jungle grounds. Beef up on repellent before a temple run to be protected against spiders and bees, which can sting or bite unsuspecting Sims. Sims can also be swarmed by bats if they aren't armed with bat bait before a jungle excursion. Besides their occasional attacks, these seven animals cannot be interacted with, so this world may not be the best for animal lovers.

5 Granite Falls

Outdoor Retreat DLC

Granite Falls has a lot more animals than one might think. Here is a woodpecker, a chipmunk, insects, and a bear.
  • Number of Animals: 5

The Sims 4: Outdoor Retreat introduced Granite Falls, the first destination world in the game. Sims can enjoy the natural beauty of this idyllic mountainside world by renting log cabins or pitching tents at the campsite. Discover native species of birds like woodpeckers whose noise reverberates through the woods or cute little chipmunks skittering across their Sims' campsites. There are also five new fish that campers can catch along rivers and ponds.

This game pack brought a new collection to The Sims 4 in the form of insects. Similar to games like Animal Crossing, players can find twenty-one different kinds of bugs, like butterflies, ladybugs, and fireflies, depending on the time of the day. Beware of "bears" who roam the campgrounds. Thankfully, they don't pose much of a threat to Sims.

4 Sulani

Island Living DLC

There are several species of animals for animal-lovers to enjoy in Sulani, the world from the Island Living expansion.
  • Number of Animals: 6

Sulani is the island world from the Island Living expansion pack, based on Polynesian islands and culture. There are a whopping fourteen new fish that fishermen and hobbyists can add to their collection, although many islanders wish for the creatures to stay where they belong in the sea. Look for little sandpipers along the shore or seagulls searching for lunch on the beach.

Visit the Admiral's Wreckage lot on hatching day to find adorable baby turtles emerging from their shells and joining their families in the sea. Swimming with dolphins is every animal lover's dream and players of The Sims 4 can do just that. Befriend them by petting them, giving them treats, or talking with them. Sims should be careful of sharks in the water, though. If they do not listen to their instincts to get out of the water after spotting a shark fin, Sims may die from a shark attack.

3 Chestnut Ridge

Horse Ranch DLC

Chestnut Ridge is filled with horses, sheep, and goats, making it the perfect world for animal-lovers to reside in.
  • Number of Animals: 6

Chestnut Ridge, from the Horse Ranch expansion pack, makes the top three in terms of being an animal lover's paradise. Most obviously, players can purchase, raise, and train horses in this desert equestrian-themed world designed to cater to every cowboy or cowgirl's dreams. Aside from training and competing with them, horses provide manure for fertilizer. There are thirty-five different breeds of horses to choose from and players can customize them in Create-A-Sim. Imaginative players can even create unicorns, although they don't come with any special abilities.

Horse Ranch also brought mini goats and sheep to The Sims 4. If properly cared for, these mini-animals can help with gardening and can provide Sims with goat milk and wool to sell for profit. Some players have also reported seeing prairie dogs and rats in Chestnut Ridge, although these animals cannot be interacted with in any way.

2 Brindleton Bay

Cats & Dogs DLC

Sims can own cats and dogs, but there are also several other animals from the Cats & Dogs expansion for animal-lovers to enjoy.
  • Number of Animals: 7

It's no surprise that Brindleton Bay from the Cats & Dogs expansion ranks so highly for pet parents. This long-awaited pack granted players the ability to create furry companions for their Sim families. There are 123 breeds of dogs and 49 breeds of cats to choose from, but they can be customized to the nines in Create-A-Sim. Stray dogs and cats can be found roaming the streets of Brindleton Bay and can be adopted by loving new families. Fans can take pets to the park or the vet when they get sick.

Other than being great companions, these animals can search and retrieve treasures for their owners. They can also chase seagulls and squirrels or be sprayed by skunks. Many have showcased their creative abilities with cat and dog creation to make hundreds of other animals like foxes, raccoons, deer, and other big cats like tigers and lions. Hundreds of thousands of these creations can be found and downloaded from the Gallery.

1 Henford-On-Bagley

Cottage Living DLC

Players with the Cottage Living pack can enjoy Henford-On-Bagley, filled with cows, chickens, llamas, foxes, birds, and rabbits for animal-lovers to enjoy.
  • Number of Animals: 6

Henford-On-Bagley takes the cake as the best world for animal lovers to reside in while playing The Sims 4. With the Cottage Living expansion installed, players can build farms around the quaint village town, inspired by the English countryside. Farmers can benefit from befriending birds and inexplicably adorable rabbits, both of which can help with gardening and bring gifts to the household.

Sims can also own livestock like cows, chickens, and llamas. Unlike many other animals and creatures, these animals yield useful resources and materials like eggs, milk, and wool. Be careful, because foxes can burglarize chicken coops for their previous eggs. These products can be sold directly by the Sim or at the market for a higher price. Families can use their produce as ingredients if they live on a lot with the "Simple Living" lot challenge, which encourages Sims to use their own resources for cooking.
