It's widely accepted that the Wii U underperformed for Nintendo, despite some fascinating and interesting games that took advantage of the hardware. Regardless, the marketing did the console no favors and resulted in incredibly low lifetime sales, especially in comparison to the Switch's runaway success. While the Switch is currently Nintendo's headline act, there are still some indie developers that are supporting the Wii U, even after first-party and third-party developers had bailed.

As the Wii U and 3DS consoles are no longer in production, Nintendo has been slowly phasing out some of the services that were supported on the consoles. One of these is the digital storefront on both consoles, the Nintendo eShop, where Nintendo announced that it would be disallowing players to add funds via credit cards. Another way the services are being phased out is a rumor that Nintendo will end submissions of games to the Wii U's eShop this year. Despite that, One of these developers is Sungrand Studios, and its upcoming Wii U exclusive game, Silver Falls White Inside Its Umbra.

Silver Falls is a horror game that is utilizing every aspect of the Wii U's hardware, with the gamepad being a stand-in for a player's phone. It appears to be a survival horror title that has exploring around a deep and dense forest. The player can use a flashlight to look around the area, with the Wii remote providing a motion-controlled way for players to take in their surroundings. The gamepad itself can be utilized for a variety of in-game functions, such as a map, camera, flashlight, and even a mini-game.

One of the optional controllers for this game includes Nintendo's Wii Balance Board peripheral. A follow-up tweet to the initial one jokes that players can be jump scared by the game and end up falling off the board. Another video also demonstrates that the Wii's Nunchuck is also a controller option that can be utilized for movement, paired with the Wiimote for a flashlight. These control options are utilized alongside the Wii U's gamepad to provide plenty of ways to play.

The developer of Silver Fall re-iterates that the game will only be exclusive to the Wii U's eShop, so on-disc copies will not be offered. The game will however be available in all regions, including PAL. If this game is submitted and published before Nintendo closes the submission period, this might be a game to download before the service shuts down.

Silver Falls White Inside Its Umbra will be released this year exclusively for the Wii U.
