Some recent changes have been made on the Silent Hill 2 remake's official Steam page, which may indicate fans will hear more about the game from Konami and Bloober Team soon. The original 2001 release of Silent Hill 2 was a hallmark of horror games that many gamers believe hasn't been topped to this day. When Konami announced back in 2022 that it would be remaking the seminal horror classic, many fans were excited but also cautious. After this reveal, however, news regarding the game has mostly been silent.

Several rumors had been spread about this remake throughout 2023, especially regarding its release date, with many answers and leaks giving different days or windows. This ranges from asking one of the voice actors when Silent Hill 2's remake would release to various retailers or sources giving a solidified date while being open for pre-orders. The conflicting answers and dates make things harder to determine what information is reliable or not. A new update made to the game's Steam page possibly gives an indication about how Konami and Bloober Team will give more news about it soon.

This change was caught by SteamDB, a database for Valve's platform that tracks changes made to a game's page, along with statistics. This modification to Silent Hill 2's remake Steam page was made on October 6, 2023, where it had changed categories, adding a Steam achievements tag to its list. Aside from labeling how the game will feature an achievement system, Konami or Bloober Team recently updating the game's page means that the game is possibly nearing completion. Considering that Bloober Team previously stated that Silent Hill 2 was close to being finished back in March 2023, this claim could be backed up with this recent update.

The last change made to the game's page was around two months ago when the copyright information was changed from "Konami Digital Entertainment" to just "KONAMI." Along with adding the tag for Steam achievements, the Silent Hill 2 Steam page removed Portuguese, and added support for Ukrainian and Brazilian language options, according to SteamDB.

Alongside this remake, Konami is publishing three other Silent Hill-related projects, which include Silent Hill f, Silent Hill Townfall, and Silent Hill: Ascension, which were all previously announced at the 2022 Silent Hill Transmission livestream event. This Steam update comes right around the same time that Silent Hill: Ascension recently got its release date. With the 1-year anniversary of the previous Silent Hill Transmission livestream coming up, fans might be hearing more news from Konami in the near future, though this is just speculation at this time and fans should wait until more official information from the publisher is given.

Silent Hill 2 is currently in development for PC and PS5.
