Shuhei Yoshida, one of the most influential people in PlayStation history, has a list of games he thinks all PS Plus Premium subscribers should play. Now the head of PlayStation Indies, Yoshida has chosen a list of 10 classic games on the PlayStation Plus service that he’s personally curated, and he wants players to try them out.

The first game on the list is the first-person 3D platformer Jumping Flash! which was released in the early days of the original PlayStation. Next up is the PS1 fighting classic Tekken 2 which was initially released on the arcade. Following up Tekken 2 was Ape Escape which revolutionized the use of dual joystick controllers on consoles.

Rounding out Yoshida’s top five were Jak 2 for the PlayStation 2 and Echochrome for the PSP. Yoshida praised Jak 2 for being an upgrade from Crash Bandicoot as there were no loading screens and made the story darker than the original. Echochrome was praised for its visuals, saying that it was art in video game form.

The rest of Yoshida’s top 10 games were No Heroes Allowed!, Siren Blood Curse, Ico, Tokyo Jungle, and Rain. No Heroes AllowedI was the only other PSP entry on the list after Echochrome. No Heroes Allowed! is a management sim where players dig tunnels to stave off their enemies and is essentially a parody of the genre.

Siren Blood Curse is a sequel to the original Siren game that was released for the PlayStation 2 in 2003. Yoshida noted that the graphical upgrade to the PlayStation 3 made it stand out from the original, but did say that players should play Siren before hopping into Blood Curse.

For fans of The Last Guardian and Shadow of the Colossus, Ico is where it all started for game director Fumito Ueda. Released in 2001 for the PlayStation 2, Ico plays a lot like the other Ueda games, and Yoshida said fans should play the PS3 version due to the enhanced graphics. There's a lot of patience involved in Ico, but players will enjoy the visuals and story.

Tokyo Jungle was a very unique indie game that launched in 2012 during the PS3 era, with Yoshida calling it both “shocking” and “interesting.” Finally, there’s Rain, another indie game that Yoshida called beautiful in both tone, story, and music. Yoshida added that because of the sound in the game, players should fully immerse themselves by wearing headphones while playing.
