With a rating of 96% positive on Steam at the time of writing, Shin Megami Tensei 5: Vengeance is off to an amazing start on Valve's platform. During its launch weekend, Shin Megami Tensei 5: Vengeance had an all-time concurrent player count of 21,749 on Steam, nearly double that of another RPG recently released on the storefront.

As the definitive edition of the original 2021 release on the Switch, Shin Megami Tensei 5: Vengeance contains some quality-of-life enhancements that the first release did not have, such as higher frame rates and more stat points for the main character to spend. In addition, players will be given a choice to play through one of two story branches early in the game. While the "Canon of Creation" will put players on a path similar to the original Shin Megami Tensei 5, the exclusive "Canon of Vengeance" will alter events and offer additional endings based on the choices players can make. Players also do not need to beat one Canon path to unlock the other, so players looking to start the Canon of Vengeance can easily do so.
