Mitamas are a unique type of demon that rewards players with large sums of XP, Macca, or level-up items for both demons and the Nahobino in Shin Megami Tensei 5: Vengeance. There are multiple types of Mitamas that can spawn, and none of them have a universal weakness to rely on.

Every time a Mitama spawns, their affinities are rolled and will be weak to only one random element, while blocking all others. Should the player use up all their press turn icons, Mitamas will run away the first chance they get, making hitting their unknown weakness a priority.

How To Figure Out Mitama's Weaknesses In Shin Megami Tensei 5: Vengeance

Players who try to guess a Mitama's weakness will only get two chances, as having two attacks blocked will end your turn and have the Mitama run away. Before attempting to fight a Mitama, players will need a Spyglass, which can be used in combat to display the affinities of a selected enemy. Spyglasses can be purchased in Cadaver's Hollow for 100 Macca a piece. Without a Spyglass, defeating a Mitama is very unlikely. Mitamas can be targeted by Almighty attacks, but they will still resist the total damage and often survive unless it is a late-game Almighty ability.

At the start of the game, only the Nahobino and human guest characters can use items like a Spyglass, and should be done right at the start of a battle against a Mitama. After the affinities have been identified, Pass your turn between whichever character or demon necessary to target the weakness. Passing your turn with all three subsequent party members will give the Nahobino one more turn if he is the only one who can target the weakness or needs to use another item.

Having elemental shards can also make fighting Mitama much easier, as having one of each element can make sure the player can target any weakness even if not covered by their demons or skills. Mitamas have very low health, and as long as their weakness is hit, they will be defeated. Every Mitama in the game has a randomly rolled weakness, with even those that spawn together potentially having different weaknesses, so always use a Spyglass before attacking one.
