The Disney+ series She-Hulk: Attorney At Law was released in August 2022 and fans have wondered if there will be a second 2 for a long time now. In January 2024, Tatiana Maslany, who played the main character Jennifer Walters, answered a question about She-Hulk season 2 during a stream and said, "I don't think so. I think we blew our budget, and Disney was like, 'No thanks.'"

Since there hasn't been an official announcement about whether She-Hulk will get a season 2, it's possible to argue both for and against more episodes of this unique and memorable TV series.

She-Hulk is a powerful new MCU Superhero, but her counterparts in the pages of Marvel Comics are sometimes even stronger!

The Case For She-Hulk Season 2

She-Hulk at the Gala

There are a few reasons why there should be a season 2 of She-Hulk. First of all, She-Hulk feels like a sitcom and has a sense of humor. She-Hulk also breaks the fourth wall, which was a fun creative, narrative decision that sets it apart from other Marvel TV shows. As Jen explains in the first episode:

"Yes, it's true. I am a Hulk. And I'm guessing you won't be able to focus on this fun lawyer show until you know all about that. So let me get you up to speed. A few months ago, I went on a road trip with my cousin Bruce. Yes, *that* Bruce."

A season 2 of She-Hulk would also be a great idea because of the cameos in season 1. There have been many fun celebrity cameos in the MCU, and She-Hulk continued this tradition of featuring both stars and MCU characters. Season 2 would be a good opportunity to feature even more beloved characters.

  • Meghan Thee Stallion
  • Matt Murdock
  • Bruce Banner
  • Kevin Feige
  • Wong

There should also be a season 2 of She-Hulk because of the interesting season 1 finale. Episode 9 of She-Hulk has great Easter eggs, which is called "Whose Show Is This?" sees Jen losing her job at the law firm and being told that she can't become She-Hulk again. Since these two things are integral to her identity, she, of course, wants to fix the situation. As viewers likely guessed, the episode has a happy ending and Jen/She-Hulk is back on track. The season 1 She-Hulk finale would lead perfectly into season 2 as now Jen has more experience balancing these two parts of herself.

The Case Against She-Hulk Season 2

One reason why She-Hulk season 2 doesn't need to happen? The negative reviews that season 1 of the Disney+ series received. While season 1 has a 77% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, it has a 32% Audience Score, which is very low. While criticism of She-Hulk was obvious from the start and there are enough people who would be interested in watching season 2, it's worth wondering if season 2 would receive even more negative reviews from fans and critics alike.

Many Marvel fans felt that the tone of She-Hulk season 1 is confusing and that the show never figured out what it wanted to be. There is an interesting discussion in a thread in the Marvel Studios SubReddit about whether people liked season 1 or not. Redditor @FictionFantom wrote, "There is lots to like about the show. Personally I just think as a whole it tried to do too much, and Jen’s character arc suffered a bit for it. I think focusing on the week-to-week court cases and relationship drama would’ve been better than doing that plus a typical MCU plot."

They continued, "Lots of potential for future seasons but they need to shift focus if they want the show to be a real hit." Redditor @Linuxbrandon wrote, "It wasn’t a legal drama, the writers admit they knew nothing about courtroom procedures. It wasn’t a full-on comedy."

Verdict: Does She-Hulk Season 2 Need To Happen?

While there are many reasons why there should and shouldn't be a season 2 of She-Hulk, there seem to be more pros than cons. It would be fun and entertaining to see Jen continuing to work her lawyer job while turning into She-Hulk in a season 2 of the Disney+ series.

In an interview with Indiewire.com in 2022, Kat Coiro, the director of She-Hulk, talked about the negative response from some Marvel fans. Thanks to his comments, it's possible to argue that a second season would be a positive thing.

She-Hulk Season 2 Should Happen

She-Hulk Season 2 Shouldn't Happen

tone that is all over the place

Coiro said:

“As negative as it can be, it is connection. It is people feeling passionately about something, and if we can take that and turn it positive and go, ‘Oh, this really is fun,’ then I feel like we’ve done a great job.”
