Now more than halfway through the series, She-Hulk episode 5 brought Jennifer Walters back to court in a surprising twist of events. Appearing this time as the plaintiff instead of the lawyer, She-Hulk scored her second victory over Titania, who gave audiences a deeper glimpse into MCU influencer culture. Tensions continue to rise between Jen and her most notable comic book foe, but all currently seems well in the world of She-Hulk.

Every moment of this week’s episode was packed with superhero merchandise spanning from knockoff t-shirts to limited edition shoes, and there were plenty of hidden gems scattered throughout the entire episode. Fans finally learned who’s responsible for designing all the modern superhero costumes characters manage to get their hands on, which led to one of the biggest Easter egg reveals in the series so far.

Avengers Gear

The dynamic between Pug and Nikki was one of the best things about episode 5, and seeing them get haggled by a boba-selling merchandise dealer was certainly a high point. Among his cheap products were a shield and a hammer that were obviously poorly-made replicas of Cap’s shield and Mjolnir.

Despite Steve Roger’s exit from the superhero business, his presence in the MCU stays strong, and Jen probably would’ve loved to get her hands on his fake shield. Thor also remains popular with the people from Earth, even though he’s currently galaxies away.

Shrek Is MCU Canon

Like many other MCU projects, the characters tend to make reference to real-life pop culture classics, which is what grounds the franchise in a bit of reality. This week, Titania made a snide comment towards Jen’s appearance in court by referring to her as Shrek. This scene confirmed everyone’s favorite Ogre exists within the MCU, and remains well-known in Marvel's fictional world, so it’s entirely possible that the world’s greatest heroes have watched his misadventures with Donkey.

Mallory Book Returns

mallory book Easter egg-2

Mallory Book lawyered up for Jen’s case against Titania this week, showing viewers why her comic book nickname is “the face that’s never lost a case.” Mallory made the victory against Titania look easy, and she also struck up a newfound friendship with Jen outside the office.

In the comics, Mallory and Jen were professional rivals, since Jen was the reason why Mallory lost her winning streak. However, She-Hulk put a spin on this relationship by making them allies rather than competitors, and the two women bonded over drinks after their win. As always, there’s still time for this relationship to go sour, but things are off to a great start between the two lawyers. Jen even told Mallory that she was excited to have a new friend, which she felt embarrassed about afterwards.

The Ghosts Of Bad Dates Past

Audiences were excited for Jen when they thought she found her perfect match in last week’s episode, but it turned out that all of her online dating experiences were a major bust. The outlandish crew of men returned to help She-Hulk win her court case against Titania, further proving they wouldn’t make great boyfriends for Jen, but are at least good for something.

Pug’s Shoe Collection

In episode 2 of She-Hulk, Jen’s computer screen revealed an ad for shoes named the Iron Man Three’s, which were soon to be released to the public. This week, Pug asked Nikki if she would be willing to go with him and snag an extra pair, so that he could have a set for wearing and a set for collectible purposes.

As the She-Hulk credits rolled, a new image of Pug showing off his shoe collection to Nikki revealed some more MCU connections, featuring Deadpool, and what appears to be shoes inspired by other characters like the Thing, Cyclops, and Ghost Rider.

Now that Marvel has confirmed Deadpool 3 will be MCU canon when it finally hits theaters, it’s safe to assume all other heroes referenced in Pug’s collection will be joining the ranks, as well.

Daredevil Costume Reveal

The biggest bomb drop of the week was the reveal of Daredevil’s infamous yellow suit helmet, which was left out in the superhero stylist’s office. Marvel has already announced that Charlie Cox will be returning to the MCU in Phase 5, starring in another series of his own on Disney Plus titled Daredevil: Born Again.

Evidently, Marvel’s other superhero-slash-lawyer has been quite busy after hours, working with fashion designers to create a brand-new suit for his upcoming adventures in spring 2024. Daredevil still has a cameo at some point in the She-Hulk series, which fans are anxiously awaiting. Now that his new suit has been partially unveiled, there’s a good chance he’ll be showing up in next week’s episode to give fans the full reveal.

New episodes of She-Hulk are streaming every Thursday on Disney Plus.
