Shailene Woodley definitely feels the need for speed. The Academy Award-nominated actress recently shared her love for Top Gun: Maverick, which stars both Tom Cruise and her former Divergent co-star, Miles Teller.

Top Gun: Maverick soared to new heights during its Memorial Day theatrical release in the U.S., setting a new box office record on its opening weekend. Since then, Top Gun: Maverick has continued to receive stellar reviews from both critics and audiences, with even Rotten Tomatoes giving it a certified fresh rating of 97%. Woodley herself had some incredibly kind words to contribute to the wave of positivity, and she did not hesitate to share them in her heartfelt post on Instagram.

Woodley praised the sequel for being an actual cinematic experience, one that made her laugh, cry, and clap throughout the two-hour screening as any good film should. She said watching Top Gun: Maverick made her feel like a kid again, indicating that the nostalgia factor was in full effect in her theater. She also gave a shout-out to Tom Cruise, who she said "slayed so hard" as his iconic character Lt. Pete "Maverick" Mitchell.

But perhaps the most heartfelt part of her post was when she mentioned Teller. She raved about his portrayal of Bradley Bradshaw, the son of beloved Goose Bradshaw. Teller clearly had very big shoes to fill, and Woodley believed he delivered beyond expectations. She applauded him for giving the world everything they could ask for in a performance: heart, soul, sass, charisma, pain, elation, and "oiled-up abs." She also called him a "wildly talented actor" and admitted he made her heart explode when she watched him on the screen.

Woodley and Teller have worked on multiple film projects before, including the Divergent series and the 2013 romance drama The Spectacular Now. Over the years, the two have been subject to a slew of relationship rumors, especially since they played each other's love interests on the big screen before. However, Woodley's Top Gun tribute seems to have put an end to those rumors once and for all, as she referred to herself as Teller's "proud sister" in the post.

At this time, it's unclear whether the two actors will reunite in the near future for a new entry into the Divergent series or a separate film project. At the very least, fans can take comfort in the fact that they are still very close friends today, even after years of not working together.

Top Gun: Maverick is now playing in theaters.
