The science fiction workplace thriller Severance has officially been renewed for at least another season by Apple TV Plus. The announcement that there will be a second season comes just days before Severance's first season finale.

The Apple TV Plus series features a unique take on the home-work life division, with certain employees going through a procedure known as Severance that divides a person’s brain so that their “work self” doesn’t remember anything about someone’s personal life and vice versa. As Severance season 1 has gone on, it’s become clear that the company at the center of the series is up to some shady things and a quartet of office workers are trying to figure out what exactly the company has up its sleeve.

The official renewal of Severance was announced by Apple TV Plus, and it came just two days before the final episode of the current run, titled “The We We Are,” will be dropping on April 8. While the show will get a second season, just when it will air, when production might begin, and just who might be returning wasn’t announced. "It’s really exciting to see the response from people who are loving the show — and the level of fan engagement,” said director and executive producer Stiller. "It has been a long road bringing ‘Severance' to television. I first read Dan’s pilot over five years ago. It has always been a multi season story, and I’m really happy we get to continue it. I’m grateful to our partners at Apple TV+ who have been behind it the whole way. Praise Keir!"

Severance Episode 6 Cobel

"Thanks to creator Dan Erickson, the brilliant Ben Stiller, and an incomparable cast and crew, ‘Severance’ has imagined an existence that‘s equal parts riveting and enthralling as viewers around the globe can’t get enough of these rich characters,” said Matt Cherniss, head of programming for Apple TV Plus. “We’re excited to go deeper into this wholly unique world and unpack more layers of Lumon in season two." With one episode to go of Severance, it’s possible viewers will get some idea of who might be making a repeat appearance after they watch the season finale. While the four workers have been working towards finding a way to end the effects of the Severance operation, what comes next is a mystery.

Adam Scott headlines the thriller as Mark. He stars in Severance alongside Zach Cherry (Dylan), Britt Lower (Helly), and John Turturro (Irving). The program also stars Patricia Arquette as the direct supervisor of the group of office workers that are referred to as Innies. The show also had several guest-starring turns by well-known and well-accomplished actors like Dichan Lachmann and most notably Christopher Walken as an unusual love interest for one of the characters.
