While The Game Awards was full of leaks and rumors, Microsoft somehow managed to keep the big surprise of its Project Scarlett unveiling quiet. At the top of the show, the newly named Xbox Series X debuted for the first time and fans even got a first taste of what the system can do as Ninja Theory revealed Senua's Saga: Hellblade 2. Even though the trailer confirmed it for the next generation Xbox, questions continued to rise about where else the game could find itself on.

Microsoft's own Aaron Greenberg finally put most of those release platform questions to bed. Over on Twitter, Greenberg was specifically asked if Senua's Saga: Hellblade 2 was truly an Xbox exclusive. As it turns out, the game is being developed for the next generation Xbox as well as PC.

This reveal should be too surprising for fans, but a welcomed confirmation nonetheless. Over the past couple of years, Microsoft has really been pushing PC inclusion for its games. First party titles typically release on both platforms and this past summer, the company introduced a new PC version of Game Pass. In fact, to tie everything together, players can opt into Game Pass Ultimate, which opens the service on both Xbox and PC as well as acting like Xbox Live Gold.

In addition, Hellblade 2 comes after the acquisition of Ninja Theory by Microsoft which should have been further indications of the game being tied specifically to Xbox. The first Hellblade started life on the PlayStation 4 and PC, eventually coming to other platforms like the Xbox One and Nintendo Switch though this sequel won't be following that same path. Interested players will also need to upgrade to the upcoming Xbox console as it also doesn't appear to be launching on the Xbox One either.

Even without the financial and marketing power of Microsoft, Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice was a major success for Ninja Theory. Originally developed as a game with the indie spirit in mind along with all of the qualities and production of a major AAA game, Hellblade sold better than the studio expected and broke even in just three months. The success didn't go to the developer's heads however as it was later announced that all profits made on Hellblade were being donated to a mental health charity called Rethink in honor of World Mental Health Day.

Senua's Saga: Hellblade 2 is coming to the Xbox Series X and PC.
