Gege Akutami’s Jujutsu Kaisen is serialized in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump and began its run in 2018. The manga’s success inspired an anime adaptation two years following its debut, and the series has won a variety of awards during its short run. The manga had over 60 million copies printed and sold as of November.

MAPPA produced an anime adaptation that aired during the Fall 2020 and Winter 2021 seasons. The series ran for 24 episodes and was directed by Sunghoo Park, who also worked on The God of High School. Hiroshi Seko served as the series’ screenwriter and has worked on notable series such as Mob Psycho 100, Attack on Titan, and the upcoming Chainsaw Man anime adaptation.

Akutami’s Jujutsu Kaisen 0 (renamed from Tokyo Metropolitan Curse Technical School) manga ran in Shueisha’s Jump GIGA magazine from April-July 2017. The film adaptation was released on December 24, and has been steadily breaking records since its premiere. The prequel film recently surpassed Evangelion: 3.0+1.0 as Japan's #1 film of 2021, and stands as the 34th highest-earning film in Japanese box office history, having sold 7,603,732 tickets for ¥10,456,322,400 (roughly US$90.6 million) in the 45 following its premiere.

Viz Media publishes the Jujutsu Kaisen and Jujutsu Kaisen 0 manga in English. Crunchyroll streams the series in English, and will be screening the Jujutsu Kaisen 0 prequel film in U.S. and Canadian theaters starting March 18. Tickets will go on sale starting February 25.
