Following his role in last year's The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Marvel Studios' second series for Disney Plus, star Sebastian Stan is still unsure whether he will make an appearance in the long awaited Captain America 4. However, he has no doubts the film will knock it out of the park, as he has compared the upcoming project to classics like 1976's Rocky.

After officially being greenlit back in August, a Captain America 4 is finally in the works from Marvel Studios with Anthony Mackie's Sam Wilson/Falcon in the titular role, taking over for Chris Evans' Steve Rogers. While The Falcon and the Winter Soldier saw Falcon team up with BuckyBarnes/Winter Soldier and take over the shield to eventually become the new Cap, details for the fourth film have been kept under wraps and won't likely be released for quite some time.

While promoting his newest film Fresh with Yahoo Entertainment's Kevin Polowy, Stan touched on what fans can expect out of Captain America 4, sharing that the upcoming film has a little of Rocky in it. "But I'm very excited for that movie and I think he's going to be great," Stan said of Mackie. "He's going to add a whole different feel to that idea. It kind of reminds me a little bit of Rocky, in some ways."

In terms of relating to Rocky, perhaps Captain America 4 will carry over a lot of those underdog themes presented in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, particularly those dealing with Sam Wilson filling the big shoes of such an icon (Rogers), and coming to terms with the idea of a Black man taking over as Captain America in a predominantly white society (as shown with Isiah Bradley's character and his contempt for what that would mean). While Stan was rumored to appear in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness (which honestly wouldn't be too surprising considering all the cameos likely to appear in that film), his next appearance in the MCU would likely be in Captain America 4.

While nothing is certain yet, fans of course should not rule out Stan showing up in Captain America 4, especially when other Marvel stars like Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire lied about their big roles in Spider-Man: No Way Home. Danny Ramirez has also teased that Joaquin Torres from The Falcon and the Winter Soldier could also make his return in the sequel, so it is very likely Stan could as well.

What is known about Captain America 4 is that it will be Mackie's first solo outing in the MCU. Malcolm Spellman, head creator/writer for The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, will write the script for the upcoming film along with the series staff writer Dalan Musson. No director has been set for the film.

Captain America 4 is currently in development at Marvel Studios.
