Sea of Thieves players have made their own competitive mode in the game that tests teammate's ability with the basic mechanics in the game: teamwork, communication, and combat. The fan-made Race of Legends is more similar to the game show The Amazing Race than a normal session of Sea of Thieves.

In this shared world, Sea of Thieves is a pirate adventure inspired by games such as Rust. Players can command ships, attack enemy ships with cannonballs, complete voyages, and find buried treasure in the world of Sea of Thieves. And the freedom allotted in Rare's game allows players to create their own adventures in private servers, such as Race of Legends, one of many organized obstacle courses set up by ambitious fans that loved the game's corporation and team mechanics.

The fan-made Race of Legends has just begun its sixth season, and since the first, the Amazing Race-inspired challenge has undergone some series renovations. In the first season of the Sea of Thieves game show, players started at Smuggler's Bay, went to Golden Sandspost and drank grog while defending themselves against other pirates, touch dry land, then return to Smuggler's Bay.

In the most recent season of Race of Legends, which premiered on February 6th, Sea of Thieves players must navigate through a much more complex obstacle course. For example, one challenge requires players to grab a snake and make it back to their ship, but snakes spit blinding venom, making the task more difficult than it sounds.

For those interested in the Sea of Thieves competitive game, they can stream Race of Legends on creator DreadPirateDoug's Twitch channel.

Sea of Thieves is out now for PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
