Lately, Sea of Thieves players have been hoisting the sails and traveling the high seas. With A Pirate's Life now out and available, players are tasked with protecting the world of Sea of Thieves from the likes of Davy Jones himself. Thankfully, the crossover with Pirates of the Caribbean also sees the addition of powerful allies like Calypso, Captain Barbossa, and the fearsome Captain Jack Sparrow.

To say the least, A Pirate's Life was in high demand upon release. Both Sea of Thieves and Pirates of the Caribbean share the same primary inspirations, not to mention a wacky sense of humor. Even before that, Sea of Thieves was known as a great alternative to the multiplayer shooters and battle-royale games that have recently held dominance. A lot of those games require some form of online connection, and with the influx of interesting updates and its long-running time, some gamers are wondering if Sea of Thieves can be played offline.

Can Sea of Thieves Be Played Offline?

Simply put, Sea of Thieves cannot be played offline. It's a persistent online world, meaning players must maintain a stable internet connection in order to access the game. Even though it's possible for some pirates to go solo in Sea of Thieves, the design of the game means players are connecting to a central, shared server over an internet connection network. In other words, without access to the internet, there's absolutely no way that Sea of Thieves players can set sail across the high seas.

To be fair, Sea of Thieves has been described as a "shared-world adventure game," meaning there's more enjoyment to be had when interacting with other players. That's not only limited to pillaging ships and finding treasure. One such interaction resulted in a group of Sea of Thieves players organizing their own Amazing Race. While the pirate adventure game may have had a rocky start at first, it's clear that Sea of Thieves may be worth a second chance.

On the other hand, it might be a little intimidating to venture out on the high seas, as some Sea of Thieves players may only have gold in mind. Not to mention, the Kraken is a very real danger for newer Sea of Thieves players to watch out for. Still, once those sea legs are fully acquired, gamers will find that Sea of Thieves can be a very exhilarating pirate experience.

Sea of Thieves is available now on PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
