Xbox Game Studios and Rare released Sea of Thieves back in 2018 and the live-service game continues to evolve through regular fixes and content updates, with some content from previous updates remaining. One Sea of Thieves fan has captured a moment where they caught an enemy ship off guard and sank it hilariously while adventuring on the open seas off the coast of a Fort of Fortune.

Reddit user VersusDeadLock recently posted a Sea of Thieves clip that begins with them and a crewmate waiting on the Ship of the Damned to respawn after presumably being killed by enemy pirates. Upon returning to their Galleon, the player faces a glowing ember in the sky indicating the location of a Fort of Fortune. Turning to the left, the video escalates as VersusDeadLock's crew is mid-battle with another Galleon as the pirates fire their cannons at the oncoming ship.

With Rare looking to bring six ships back to Sea of Thieves, there's more potential for funny encounters like VersusDeadLock's clash with the enemy pirates in this video. VersusDeadLock's crew ignites the enemy pirate ship with two well-placed Fire Bomb shots, but the fire is unable to prevent the enemies from smashing into VersusDeadLock's ship. When a Sea of Thieves ship hits another, both typically take damage and players must repair the hulls and bale water out of the bottom level of the boat before returning to combat, but something unexpected happens when VersusDeadLock's ship is struck.

While VersusDeadLock's Galleon was somewhat damaged from the battle previous to being hit, the impact of another Galleon bashing into it is basically unregistered as the other ship fully clears the Sea of Thieves ship deck typically covered in treasure. Floating through the mast of VersusDeadLock's Galleon, the enemy ship plummets to the seafloor in an unexpectedly heavy and glitched manner. Although the swiftly sunken ship was likely the result of a Sea of Thieves bug, VersusDeadLock was able to capture the moment for the entertainment of the game's community.

In order for Sea of Thieves players to respawn when they're defeated in combat, they require one of the many Sea of Thieves ships to spawn into and once the ship is sunk, pirates respawn on a nearby island. VersusDeadLock and their crew remained at sea after dying due to their ship being relatively unscathed, but the pirates aboard the sunken ship were likely returned to a peaceful part of the seas. Because the enemy pirate ship in VersusDeadLock's Sea of Thieves clip still had visible loot, it's likely that the surviving pirates were able to fetch some loot if the ship didn't sink beyond swimming distance.

Sea of Thieves is available now for PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
