Among Us has been one of the most popular games in the world over the past couple of years. In the game, a group of players are either assigned the role of a Crewmate or an Impostor. While Crewmates walk around one of Among Us' maps and complete tasks, the Impostors kill them while trying to convince the Crewmates that they are innocent. Among Us originally released in 2018, but didn't gain most of its huge player base until 2020. As with many other online games that fans play together, Among Us receives updates in order to keep players coming back for more.
In tomorrow's update for Among Us, fans will be able to play as Ghostface, one of the most iconic slasher villains in horror film history. Ghostface is from the Scream series. In each Scream movie, characters put on Ghostface's costume and kill people around them until their identity is discovered by the protagonists. The Scream movies have become very popular over the years, with many fans considering it to be the best slasher franchise in the world, enjoying it more than classics such as Halloween, The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, A Nightmare on Elm Street, and Friday the 13th.
The most recent film in the series, which is also called Scream, released earlier this year on January 14th. Seeing as how the movie is going to be available on Blu-ray, DVD, and 4K Ultra HD on April 5th, it is a great time for Ghostface to become playable in Among Us.
A trailer for Ghostface coming to Among Us was uploaded on Paramount Movies' YouTube channel. In it, footage from the movies is seen as Ghostface says, "Would you like to play a game?" Fans then get to see what Ghostface looks like in Among Us. While Ghostface's costume is black in the Scream movies, players will be able to switch the color, with some options being pink, blue, and red. Among Us gameplay is then shown as Ghostface runs around with Crewmates and kills them when there isn't anyone else around. At the end of the trailer, an image of Ghostface's design in the game is seen with text reading "Ghostface was ejected. Scream x Among Us," followed by the cover of the new movie announcing that it will be available on Blu-ray on April 5th.
Seeing as how the Scream movies have so much in common with Among Us as they are both murder mysteries that have received a lot of success in their media, it's great that players of the game will be able to take on the form of Ghostface. Other iconic slasher villains like Michael Myers, Chucky, and Freddy Krueger will hopefully become playable in Among Us as well.
Among Us is available on Mobile, PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
