Most horror movies treat dialogue the same way that any film would: a necessary part of the action, but the setting, kills, and characters move the story along just as much. The incredibly popular Scream franchise is arguably the most memorable because there are several quotes in each of the five films that fans will always recall. From the various Ghostfaces joking around to Sidney Prescott (Neve Campbell) being a fantastic, strong final girl, there are so many quotable lines.

There's also a clear best quote from each movie, from the first time that fans visit Woodsboro to the fifth film when newcomers take over the reigns and create a terrifying requel.

Sidney And Billy Debate Life vs. The Movies In Scream (1996)

Sidney: "But this is life. This isn't a movie."Billy: "Sure it is, Sid. It's all a movie. It's all one great big movie. Only you can pick your genre."

Billy Loomis (Skeet Ulrich) and Sidney Prescott (Neve Campbell) in Scream

While Billy Loomis might be sympathetic in Scream (2022), Skeet Ulrich's character is shown to be a terrible person at the end of the 1996 film. Billy reveals himself as one of two Ghostface killers along with his best friend Stu (Matthew Lillard), who is the best Ghostface. Sidney and Billy have a brilliant and interesting conversation and they say the best lines in Scream when they talk about whether life can feel like a movie.

While Sidney thinks that Billy and Stu have gotten swept away by wanting to create what is in their minds a horror movie masterpiece IRL, Billy believes that life can feel like a fictional tale as long as people become the main character in their story. Sidney's words show that she is smart and realistic, and Billy's reply is truly freaky, as fans can tell that he has become unhinged.

Gale Gets Vulnerable In Scream 2 (1997)

"There are no cameras here. I just wanna find this f*cker! I really do."

Sidney Prescott (Neve Campbell) and Gale Weathers (Courteney Cox) in Scream 2

Gale Weathers is also a final girl as she has survived throughout all five movies, and fans love Courteney Cox's hilarious character. Gale often has some memorable quotes, and her Scream 2 line about wanting to help kill Ghostface is the best line in the entire movie.

When Dewey Riley (David Arquette) asks Gale if she's using the situation to become even more famous, as she did in the first film, Gale shares that she doesn't care who sees her or notices. Gale just wants to be part of the group who conquers the Ghostface killers. Audiences now know that Gale is a true friend and teammate in the hunt for Ghostface.

Sidney Has Been Hidden Away In Scream 3 (2000)

"Psychos can't kill what they can't find."

While Scream 3 has a dull opening scene, the third entry in the franchise does a solid job of showing Sidney's final girl aftermath. Sidney is living in the middle of nowhere with a ton of security and she's working as a phone counselor, hoping that no one finds out where she is and that there won't be another Ghostface.

When Sidney says this quote, it's the best line from Scream 3 because it explains to fans why Sidney has taken a backseat from life. While she thinks that it's possible that she's out of danger, she can never really know, and that uncertainty has taken a massive toll on her mental health.

Sidney Schools Jill In Scream 4 (2011)

"You forgot the first rule of remakes, Jill. Don't f*ck with the original!"Emma Roberts as Jill Roberts in Scream 4

Randy Meeks's (Jamie Kennedy) horror movie rules are one of the most important parts of the entire horror slasher franchise, and in Scream 4, Jill Roberts (Emma Roberts) takes on the idea of a horror film remake when she ropes Charlie Walker (Rory Culkin) into being her accomplice.

Sidney thrills fans when she tells Jill that she's the original character and that Sidney is going to be the one who wins. This is such a big, exciting, and triumphant moment for Sidney as she has been put through the wringer and it's time for her to stand up for herself and her desire to live.

Amber Explains The Requel Rules In Scream (2022)

"we had to bring the legacy characters back to make it matter. Can't have a bonafide Halloween without Jamie Lee!"

Amber Freeman (Mikey Madison) smiling in Scream (2022)

There are some great quotes in Scream (2022) and while Richie Kirsch (Randy Quaid) has a meaningful line about fandom, Amber Freeman's (Mikey Madison) quote about how she set up the real-life requel is significant.

Horror fans love Amber's reference to the beloved Jamie Lee Curtis and her iconic Halloween character Laurie Strode, as it's true that the latest Halloween trilogy only works because Laurie is back. Fans of Scream will only keep watching the films if Sidney is one of the main characters once again, and that is even more important now that Dewey has died in Scream (2022). Amber's quote also sticks out because while she thinks that she has cracked the code for an awesome and thrilling requel, she has underestimated Gale and Sidney.
