  • Scream 7 to focus on Sidney Prescott's new life and relationships.
  • Potential inclusion of Neil Prescott and exploration of Sidney's past.
  • Sidney's complicated feelings about her hometown to be addressed in Scream 7.

Ever since fans caught up with Sidney Prescott in Scream (2022), everyone hoped that Neve Campbell would continue to appear in the horror franchise. After she was absent in Scream 6, fans cheered when they learned she was going to play her fan-favorite character again in Scream 7. Since Ghostface's motive has always been because of Sidney, it felt strange not to see the final girl in the last movie, although fans know Campbell had sound financial reasons for not starring in Scream 6.

There's a lot that could be done with Sidney's character in Scream 7, although of course a large portion of the story will be about her battling Ghostface. While the details of the plot of Scream 7 are a mystery to fans, they have ideas about Sidney's comeback.

How Can Scream 7 Share Sidney Prescott's New Life?

With Sidney Prescott at the core of Scream 7, fans are thinking about how her life over the past few years is going to be integrated into the horror sequel. Redditor @AdMotor815 thinks Scream 7 needs to catch audiences up onSidney Prescott's new life, which includes sharing more about her relationships and what she's been doing since she last defeated Ghostface, who will hopefully be a new and unique character this time around. The fan thinks that the horror sequel should feature Sidney's father Neil Prescott (Lawrence Hecht) again. The fan wrote,

"Bring him back! There is an opportunity for this, one that is actually more viable than when Kirby returned. He may have been estranged from Sid in 4, which will factor into 7."

The fan continued that it seems likely that if Neil was in Scream 7, Ghostface would kill him. This would be sad and also prove how close to home Ghostface's killing spree is. Since it was terrifying when Ghostface attacked Neil in Scream, this storyline would raise the stakes even more and show Sidney that her entire family's lives are on the line. Including Neil in Scream 7 would also be a smart idea since Sidney is still grieving her mother Maureen Prescott's murder and this was the beginning of everything. It would make sense for Neil to still be part of Sidney's life since they're the only family that they each have.

The same Redditor wants to be caught up on the history of Mark Kincaid (Patrick Dempsey) and Sidney's relationship and said, "There's gotta be a break-up between 3 and 4, given we left 3 off implying they were getting together, only for her to be single in 4, then married with kids to him in 5. What reunited them, etc.?" It would make sense if Mark and Sidney experienced tension thanks to Ghostface's reappearance and mentioned some of the tough times in their relationship. This could be done without too much exposition.

Scream 6's New York City setting was thrilling and made the action more fast-paced, but since Sidney didn't appear in that movie, it doesn't seem likely that Scream 7 will take place there. If Woodsboro, California is the setting for the horror sequel, then Scream 7 needs to explain why Sidney is living in Woodsboro again. After all, at the beginning of Scream (2022), Sidney tells Dewey Riley (David Arquette):

"No offense, Dewey, I have no intention of ever setting foot in that town again."

Scream 7 can properly talk about Sidney's new life by exploring the complicated feelings Sidney has about her hometown and everything that happened to her there. While fans are divided about Sidney's family being a part of Scream 7, it would make sense to have a few scenes of Sidney talking about her past with another character, whether a friend or neighbor. Since Sidney hasn't been around for a while, this would tie all the movies together and ensure that Sidney's reintroduction to the horror franchise is smooth.

What Happened To Sidney Prescott In Scream (2022)?

Sidney Prescott

Sidney Prescott doesn't have a big role in Scream (2022). However, she helps uncover Ghostface, serves as a kind of mentor to the younger characters who make up the Core Four, and bonds more with Gale Weathers (Courteney Cox). Sidney comes back home to Woodsboro when she learns that another Ghostface is around, and she does everything she can to ensure that this doesn't keeping happening.

While Jenna Ortega and Melissa Barrera won't be in Scream 7, Tara and Sam Carpenter are the new final girls of Scream (2022) and Scream 6, and they look up to Sidney since she's been down this scary road before. Sidney, Tara, and Sam are equally strong and fearless, and it's interesting watching them go up against the killer.

Sidney also takes a trip down memory lane in Scream (2022) when Sidney fights Ghostface in the kitchen of Amber Freeman's (Mikey Madison) house, which was once Stu Macher's (Matthew Lillard) house. Fans wish Stu would come back for Scream 7 since he played such an important role in the first movie, and Sidney deals with complex and uncomfortable emotions as she stands in the same place where she almost died years ago. After seeing Sidney battle yet another Ghostface and win, fans hope Neve Campbell's Scream 7 character will be back stronger than ever before.
