Gale Weathers (Courteney Cox) has always been an important part of the Scream franchise. While Courteney Cox isn't officially attached to Scream 7, fans are hopeful that she will reprise her popular role in the next installment.

What Is Next For Gale Weathers In Scream 7?
In Scream 7, Gale Weathers should continue on her path of honoring Sidney Prescott and Dewey Riley while going on her own unique journey. While in Scream IV, it is revealed that she moved to New York City to host a morning show, this doesn't feel quite right for the character. In Scream 7, Gale should research another book or work on a documentary about Ghostface. Amid her research, she comes across a new Ghostface who has been waiting to strike. There could also be an underground cult who have been following the killings for years and who are planning something big.
Gale should also bond with a new or returning character in Scream 7 so she can have a strong friendship in her life. Scream is one of Courteney Cox's best movies because she and Sidney Prescott have an interesting relationship. At first, Sidney hates Gale and thinks that she is just trying to become a celebrity reporter. As time goes on, the two care about each other and team up to stop Ghostface. Without Sidney or her late husband Dewey Riley (David Arquette), Gale needs someone who she can support but also lean on.
If Gale does come back for Scream 7, it's clear that she will play a crucial role. It's possible that Courteney Cox would agree to play this famous character again since the horror franchise has always meant a lot to her. In 2011, she was interviewed by Entertainment Weekly and asked about her memory of reading the Scream script. Cox said:
"Oh yeah. I went after it! I wanted to play that part. I loved it. I thought the script was funny and scary, and the opening with Drew Barrymore was insane. I was such a huge fan."

Scream (2022) has great quotes, and Gale is known for her quick wit and biting personality. She has some of the most unforgettable quotes in the horror franchise becuase there are many moments when Gale's desire for a good story, fame, and fortune seems to outweigh her desire to be compassionate. This is especially true in the early part of the horror franchise. At the beginning, Gale thinks that Cotton Weary is innocent, much to Sidney's dismay. She is cruel and callous when she says:
"If I'm right about this, I could save a man's life. Do you know what that would do for my book sales?"
In another memorable scene, she tells a young Dewey, who has started his career as a member of the Woodsboro police force:
"Looks like we've got a serial killer on our hands!"
Which Stars Will Be In Scream 7?
There are many questions about what will happen to Scream 7 since Jenna Ortega and Melissa Barrera won't return. As of now, the two other "core four" actors, Mason Gooding and Jasmin Savoy Brown, haven't confirmed that they are coming back.
Christopher Landon won't be directing the movie, and since he would have brought his unique brand of horror to the franchise, that's a shame. Whether several actors return to the franchise or there is a brand new cast with perhaps only one or two coming back, one thing is certain: a director needs to be chosen who has a unique vision for the next phase of the franchise and who won't make Scream 7 feel like Groundhog Day.
