Why Fans Think There Should Be Multiple Ghostfaces In Scream 7

When reflecting back on the motives of every Scream Ghostface killer, it's clear that that it works for the slasher franchise to have multiple Ghostface killers. It makes sense that many fans think that the franchise should consider with this trend. In a Reddit thread, Redditor @Suitable_Panic_7558 wrote that it would be cool if there was more than one Ghostface... but they weren't a team. They wrote:

"We have multiple Ghostface killers (I would prefer 4 or maybe 5), but they are NOT working together Rather each killer has their own plan, agenda, and list of victims Now the way this would go is one killer get jealous of another killers kill count (like Freddy in Freddy vs. Jason) And we get a Ghostface vs. Ghostface fight."

This is an interesting idea that hasn't been done before, which would breathe new life into a franchise that has been around since 1996. Since the two latest Scream 7 updates mean that familiar faces Neve Campbell and Kevin Williamson are returning, the new film should also do something different so it can stand apart from the others.

Watching Sidney fight several Ghostface killers would be a way to raise the already high stakes for Sidney Prescott. If the killers weren't a team, as this fan suggested, Sidney would be kept on her toes and forced to use her intelligence, wit, and perception. It would be fascinating to watch this smart final girl realize that even though she's a pro when it comes to survival, she hasn't been in this terrifying situation before.

Why Fans Think There Should Be One Ghostface In Scream 7

Some fans think there should be one Ghostface killer because it should be Danny Brackett (Josh Segarra), Sam Carpenter's (Melissa Barrera) romantic interest in Scream 6. While other characters like Chad Meeks-Martin (Mason Gooding) almost die in Scream 6, Danny is a prime suspect for the majority of the movie. That makes him an engaging choice for a potential Ghostface in Scream 7.

Redditor @joeyomen shared this fan theory in a Reddit thread and wrote:

"I am going with Danny as the single GF killer (because the writers can’t help themselves from following the original trilogy)."

The fan continued, "I think he was already a serial killer and had fallen in love with Sam and searched her out in NY. Only he can see her inner darkness and 'appreciate and love her for it' kinda thing." While Sam won't be in the next movie in the slasher franchise because Melissa Barrera and Jenna Ortega left Scream 7, there's definitely a possibility of Danny becoming a villain.

In another Reddit thread, Redditor @0utworlder suggested that Mindy Meeks-Martin (Jasmin Savoy Brown) could be Ghostface. The fan wrote, "I think Mindy COULD be possible if they go the Reddit cult route tbh." They were referring to another fan's theory that someone else who SubReddit that Scream (2022) killers Amber Freeman (Mikey Madison) and Richie Kirsch (Jack Quaid) are from could be targeting the characters in Scream 7.

Fans also think that there could be a single Ghostface killer in Scream 7 because this has never been done before. Although of course fans will see Scream 7 because they're curious about what Sidney is up to now and they want to see every film in the slasher franchise, it would also be fun for Scream 7 to break completely new creative ground.

When comparing the Ghostface killers from every Scream movie, it's clear that whether there is one Ghostface or multiple in Scream 7, they should have a unique motive while still feeling like a familiar part of the franchise. No matter how many Ghostfaces there are in Scream 7, it's clear that the stunt actors who portray Ghostface feel it's a special honor. As Max Laferriere told Halloween Daily News in 2023 of portraying the killer in Scream 6:

"This is a big thing. This is a big character, because he’s kind of an entity… Once you have the mask and the robe on, he’s not that person. He is Ghostface. So I remember I was honored by it, and I just wanted to give it justice.”
