Scream 6 is the latest film to release its Super Bowl television spot. The new trailer reveals some pulse-raising moments as Sam (Melissa Barrera) and Tara Carpenter (Jenna Ortega) attempt to move on from their previous encounter with Ghostface. Unfortunately, even moving to New York City hasn't kept the sisters safe.

Scream 6 is the follow-up to 2022's Scream. Neve Campbell's Sidney won't be back for Scream 6, and it looks like the franchise has passed the torch to the Carpenter sisters. The two women were the target of Ghostface's ire last film; thanks to Sam's connection to the first Ghostface, Billy Loomis (Skeet Ulrich), she's become something of a fixation for Greensboro aficionados, which also puts her younger half-sister in grave danger.

The new Scream 6 trailer was released by Paramount Pictures ahead of its TV debut during the Super Bowl. At 50 seconds long, it's more of a teaser, but the spot promises plenty on its own. In particular, Jasmin Savoy-Brown's Mindy Meeks-Martin is in danger at multiple points. She is terrorized in the subway and finds herself in a precarious position as Ghostface pops up behind her. Whether or not she makes it out of the movie remains to be seen.

Ortega had previously claimed Scream 6 would feature the most violent Ghostface yet, and it looks like the movie is making good on that promise. There's plenty of blood and mayhem to go around, including a shot that appears to show Ortega's Tara dangling from a ledge, and whoever's under the mask has done their research. The teaser showcases the killer's shrine to past Ghostfaces, which contains various costumes and artifacts displayed on a stage.

It also looks like whoever is behind the killings in Scream 6 is trying to focus on "legacy" characters. Courteney Cox's Gale Weathers is back, and one shot in the trailer features a killer ominously calling her while she's at home. Hayden Panettiere's Kirby Reed is also back, claiming this Ghostface is unlike any other, and she might be right. It seems like this Ghostface is trying to kill the last Woodsboro survivors (though Sidney's absence might make that a bit difficult) for an unknown reason (though, in true Scream fashion, it'll likely relate to horror movie tropes).

Even as Ghostface takes on New York City in Scream 6, the survivors will give whoever's under the mask a good fight. With their combined strengths, the characters will be difficult to take down. The new generation is a bit savvier this time, and Kirby appears to have grown considerably since she was last seen. Though their ranks will likely be thinned when the film is over, they have a good shot at taking this Ghostface down.

Scream VI is out in theaters on March 10, 2023.
