Scream 6 picks up close to where things left off in the last movie. Sam and Tara move to New York City to get away from the chaos of Woodsboro. Tara is attending college while Sam is trying to keep an eye on Tara while not moving her life forward.

Sam and Tara soon learn that they cannot outrun their past with the Ghostface Killer in because it is back. More returning cast members from Scream 5 appear as well as some other legacy characters from Scream’s past. It’s a wild ride, so let’s put on the spoiler alarms and get to the biggest revelations, questions, and senseless things about Scream 6.

7 Sam Not Knowing Richie’s Father

Detective Bailey in Scream 6

After Sam finds out her boyfriend, Richie, was one of the killers in Scream 5, she would have done research into his familiar presumably. Even if she didn’t, It’s hard to believe that Richie never showed Sam a picture of his dad, sister, or brother in the past. All of whom turn out to be the Ghostface Killers in this new movie. Technically, Detective Bailey isn’t one of the killers, but he is aiding his children in getting revenge. It’s kind of the opposite of what a detective is supposed to do in a mystery movie.

6 The Ladder Scene

Danny in Scream 6

Anything with height in horror movies can be intense, and one of the most engaging scenes in this movie involves a ladder over a gap. The Ghostface Killer appears in Sam and Tara’s apartment and starts to wreak havoc. Sam’s new boyfriend, Danny, extends a ladder across buildings to save them. This seems like a terrible idea.

The ladder is long enough but it by no means looks sturdy enough to support any weight. Let’s say it was strong enough. There is another logic hole. When Anika is crawling on it, the heroes could have pulled the ladder back into the apartment as Anika held on. Surely three people are stronger than one Ghostface Killer.

5 Gale’s Fight Scene

Gale in Scream 6

There is a litany of issues with Gale’s fight with the Ghostface Killer. One, the scene begins in the middle of the afternoon, in broad daylight in the park. The Ghostface Killer calls Sam to give her the hint that it is going to go after Gale next and that Sam fell for the bait. The scene then switches to Gale’s apartment where it is night all of sudden.

She has a new boyfriend which the movie spends no time on at all and that seems a bit pointless. The biggest gripe in this scene though is that Gale doesn’t unload the gun clip on the door before opening it. A smarter plan would have involved not opening the door at all, but either way, she should have been smarter as a five-time survivor in the Scream series.

4 The Impossible Power Of Ghostface

A Ghostface Killer in Scream 6

The Ghostface Killers in these movies have rarely made sense. One, they all somehow have ungodly strength and stamina when it comes to taking out their victims. Their size is always the same too even though there have been a lot of shorter and more petite killers like Quinn in this movie. The most baffling thing of all is their eyesight though. Ever put one of these masks on? It is impossible to see out of let alone perform precise action moves like some legendary kung-fu master.

3 Not Using Guns To Their Fullest

Kirby in Scream 6

Gale is not the only character in the movie who doesn’t know how to use a gun properly. Police don’t all have precision aiming when it comes to guns, unlike John Wick. So, Detective Bailey can be forgiven for not shooting Kirby in the head right away. However, he shouldn’t have unloaded on her after she goes down. Kirby is no better because she makes the same mistake in this final battle with this trio of killers. Why these Ghostface Killers don’t use guns, in general, is baffling but it would admittedly go against the slasher movie vibe.

2 The Core Four Surviving

The core four in Scream 6

Sam, Tara, Mindy, and Chad are the “Core Four” of Scream 6. That’s the nickname Chad comes up with and it sticks despite everyone else not liking it. A lot of people died in Scream 5, but surprisingly they all survived despite massive wounds.

The same is true in Scream 6. The most unrealistic survivor in this movie is Chad who has to get stabbed at least twenty times. It’s a bit hard to swallow that they all lived yet again, but the same could be said about Sydney, Dewey, and Gale across the other Scream movies.

1 Will A Hero Ever Go Rogue?

Sam in Scream 6

Every movie has the “rules” monologue which is given by different characters throughout the series. Mindy takes charge in this one, going over who to suspect as Ghostface and who to suspect will die. The thing that all of these horror nerds get wrong is that past survivors are never the killers.

Yet, for some reason, every movie following the original wants to make viewers believe that maybe a legacy character has gone rogue. Kirby, Sam, and Gale are all thrown under the bus in Scream 6. Will a past hero ever become a villain in the Scream series? That would break new ground in Scream 7.
