End-game spoilers for Sand Land ahead.

24 years after the original manga was released, Sand Land thrives as an action RPG made by ILCA. This new adventure retells the story drawn and written by Akira Toriyama, the creator of Dragon Ball Z, and ILCA went above and beyond to translate his unique style to a video game in an incredibly detailed way. On top of that, the Sand Land RPG tells a new story that wasn't in the original manga, seeing Beelzebub, Ann, Thief, and Rao caught in political tensions between Sand Land and its neighbor, Forest Land.

As a result, Sand Land is a great tribute to one of Toriyama's lesser-known works. It could be easily said, though, that this newer story written by him for the anime project brings in concepts that may confuse those who were already aware of Sand Land as it was. Still, while Sand Land drops the ball in a few places, the story ends in a way that players can say goodbye to these characters with ease, with happy endings for a majority of the cast that puts a bookend on the journey.

Sand Land's melee combat takes a backseat to the game's satisfying and varied vehicular combat and sticks out like a sore thumb as a result.

How Each of the Characters Gets Their Happy Ending in Sand Land

By the time players reach the final battle with Muniel, there have been a fair bit of shocking revelations in Sand Land's story. Namely, that Muniel has managed to seal up Lucifer and Lilith, Beelzebub's older sister and Ann's mother, but during the final battle the angel coughs up their Urns of Sealing, which break once they fall from Garam. Former boss Commander Bred apologizes to Queen Lilith and Princess Ann after a heartwarming reunion, which Lilith forgives as long as he chooses to fight for peace and apologizes to the citizens of Forest Land personally. After the fight, clouds form and rain falls on Sand Land thanks to the Aquanium freed from Muniel's body.

What Happens in Sand Land's Epilogue

The rain causes gradual changes over Sand Land rather quickly, as patches of grass can be seen along the river as the Swimmers take their long-deserved swim. Forest Land and Sand Land end their war, but Lilith can be seen in a human disguise at the ceremony, as humans and demons still have their own relations to work out, which falls to Rosetta and Bred. The classic Sand Land cast, however, is still going on adventures, even if they're a bit smaller compared to their last two.

Sand Land's Ending Leaves Fans with Hope and Satisfaction

Sand Land's ending is rather simple, but it sends off the story in a way that allows fans to imagine more if they wish to. Not everything is solved in the world these characters live in, but there's the foundation for improvement that lets players know that things will be fine over time. The characters fans love from Sand Land are still going on adventures, with Beelzebub, Rao, and Thief visiting the Picchi, and Ann traveling the world freely to be a world-class mechanic.

Not everything's explained fully or shown in Sand Land's story, but it certainly has plenty of heart in its ending overall. With Muniel stuck taking care of the Divine One's storehouse for 1,000 years, and the Aquanium providing Sand Land with rain every so often, there's still room for some adventures, but due to this conclusion, players can leave the world of Sand Land behind with ease. It brings the RPG to a complete close, which is great for those who want to play the other releases that April 2024 had to offer. Of course, there are other aspects of the game players can explore, such as vehicle customization, side quests, and higher difficulty playthroughs, but in terms of its story, there's not much else fans can ask for here.
