My Hero Academia is an anime that needs no introduction, having taken the world by storm in recent years. Of course, while the battles of the series must be praised, another aspect that is quite riveting in its own right is the many emotional moments that tug at a viewer's heartstrings time and time again. From a powerful line by All Might during a moment of desperation to heart-wrenching lines from characters like Shoto Todoroki, the anime is full of impactful quotes that fans will remember long after they're finished watching.

1 "When I Saw Him Struggling... It Got Me Thinking. Who Protects The Heroes When They Need Protecting?" — Ochaco Uraraka

Uraraka and Midoriya in My Hero Academia

Uraraka clearly cares about Midoriya, so it hurts her to see him so distressed after the events of the Paranormal Liberation War. When she saw her friend struggle with the fact that his presence itself was a threat, she wondered if the structure of heroes saving villains from civilians was a sound strategy.

After all, heroes are also people who need to be taken care of every once in a while. Who will do that if there's no one caring for them in their hour of need?

2 "For Once in My Life, I Just Want to Be Good Enough." — Izuku Midoriya

Midoriya's Whole Body Was Shattered During The U.A Entry Exam (1)

Pretty much everyone understands the feeling of inadequacy that most people feel at one point or the other. No matter what they do, they're simply not good enough and are almost completely useless during the times that matter.

This is something that Midoriya struggles with as well, and it's a shame that that's the case. After all, pretty much everyone is aware of the fact that Midoriya is one of the most helpful and nicest people around, and the fact that he doesn't find his efforts to be enough even after facing all these challenges is quite heartbreaking indeed.

3 "Sorry... I'm Not So Good At Smiling." — Eri

Eri in My Hero Academia

Eri is one of the cutest characters in My Hero Academia, and it's hard to see her struggling so much when she's introduced. Even after the heroes manage to rescue her, Eri still takes some time to get back to normal.

This can be seen when everyone asks Eri to smile, but she's been sad for so long that she has completely forgotten how to do so. It's a testament to the sheer level of abuse Overhaul had directed toward her and helps viewers to understand just how horrible and traumatic her torment really was.

4 "If I Can't Save One Little Girl Right In Front Of Me... Then How Can I Ever Hope To Be A Hero Who Saves Everyone?" — Izuku Midoriya

My Hero Academia Izuku Midoriya

Midoriya strove to become the best hero who would save everyone, but this turned out to be harder than expected. Saving Eri was a huge challenge, with the might of Overhaul leading to many heroes being injured and incapacitated.

Midoriya refused to let Overhaul get his way, protecting Eri at all costs and even reaching his 100% power during the battle. He refused to let Eri be another victim, letting his emotions take over as he decided to save her at all costs; even if it meant pushing his body to its absolute limits.

5 "You Heroes Hurt Your Own Families Just to Help Strangers. You Heroes Pretend to Be Society’s Guardians." — Shigaraki Tomura

Shigaraki's Decay From My Hero Academia

Shigaraki is the major antagonist of My Hero Academia and one of the most riveting characters in the show. The exploration of his backstory was pretty engaging indeed, giving players a glimpse into the life of a shunned child who never learned to use his powers properly.

He hates the fact that no heroes came to save him and realized that it was him against the world. This caused him to develop an antagonistic mindset that was fueled by All for One's manipulations, turning him into the villain everyone is familiar with now.

6 "Smile. A Society Without Cheer and Humour Will Not Have a Bright Future." — Sir Nighteye

My Hero Academia Sir Nighteye Mirai Sasaki

The battle with Overhaul harmed many heroes, with Nighteye suffering a mortal blow that took him out for good. His final words were quite pragmatic and displayed the strengths of his character perfectly.

What he said made perfect sense too. In such a dark time, people needed to stick together and spread happiness to power through this adversity. Given the current state of the world in My Hero Academia, this statement seems incredibly appropriate.

7 "Please... Don't Go..." — Eri

My Hero Academia A Scared Eri Hugging Midoriya

The first time Midoriya meets Eri is when he's making the rounds with Lemillion. He instantly notices something's wrong, especially when this helpless girl held him tight and implored him to not leave.

Overhaul appears soon after, and Midoriya would've picked a fight there and then had it not been for Mirio's level-headed approach. Of course, this comes back to bite him later on when he realizes just how much of a heinous villain Overhaul really is.

8 "Next, It's Your Turn." — All Might

All Might from My Hero Academia

All Might's final fight against All for One was a battle for the ages, with both individuals putting it all on the line to battle this threat. After baiting his nemesis, All Might gathered the last vestiges of One for All in a devastating punch that took down this opponent for good.

The battle took away his powers, and he pointed at the camera while saying this powerful line. While many people interpreted this title to be just a broad message for all heroes, Midoriya knew that All Might was telling him to become the Symbol of Hope for everyone now.

9 "I’ll Never Let Him Make You Sad Ever Again. Everything’s Fine Now! I’ll Be Your Hero. — Mirio Togata

Mirio Lost His Abilities While Protecting Eri From Overhaul

Mirio is one of the most heroic characters in the show, and the manner in which he takes care of Eri and helps her to feel safe is quite admirable indeed. This can be seen in the way that he protects Eri from Overhaul's evil nature.

His flowing cape and heroic line cause Eri to finally experience something she hadn't enjoyed for all this time: hope. She believed in Mirio and decided to trust him and hoped that he would save her at all costs.

10 "So, Why Me... Why Was I The One... That Caused All Might's End?" — Katsuki Bakugo

Bakugo and Midoriya fighting

Bakugo is a character who seems like nothing more than a heartless bully who hated Deku for being Quirkless for the longest time. However, after being rescued by the heroes from the League of Villains, another side of this character begins to show.

During his amazing battle against Midoriya, Bakugo reveals the conflict he was going through. He felt that All Might lost his powers because he tried to save Bakugo, prompting Midoriya to reveal the secret of One for All and help him to evade his guilt.
