Sony has released many interesting games over the last few years with iconic characters who’ve become their mascots. Some of these characters include Ratchet from the Ratchet & Clank series, Nathan Drake from the Uncharted series, Crash from the Crash Bandicoot franchise, Spyro the Dragon from the Spyro series, Astro Bot from Astro’s Playroom, Kratos from God of War, and more.

However, the one iconic Sony mascot that stands out the most is the adventurous Sackboy, who first appeared in the 2008 game LittleBigPlanet. The little guy was recently featured in its latest game Sackboy: A Big Adventure, one of the best platformers on PlayStation 5. The game offers a great variety of fun levels but even better costumes. Let’s take a look.

10 Sacknana

Sackboy has had many original avatars and costumes, but the Sacknana takes the banana cake for being silly and adorable. This little costume was first featured on the Fruit Salad Pack in LittleBigPlanet PSP on July 10, 2010. The iconic outfit is now back in Sackboy: A Big Adventure, and players can not have enough of its goofiness.

The official PlayStation page for this outfit asks, “Does Sackboy still know that dance?” Well, the only way to find out is by triggering the emote.

9 Clank

Clank first appeared alongside Ratchet in the incredibly popular Ratchet & Clank game in 2002. It is the game's deuteragonist and the intergalactic hero's best friend. Clank is a robot, as it is clearly visible from its metallic body, green eyes, and red antenna.

However, despite being a machine, it shows human values such as true friendship and care. The Sackboy: A Big Adventure’s Clank costume is one of the best in the games, as it closely resembles its original look. It’s metallic, short, cute, and doesn’t even look like the Sackboy.

8 Ellie Williams

Almost all PlayStation gamers know the story of Ellie Williams, as she is part of one of the most iconic Sony exclusives in the market. The girl first appeared in The Last Of Us in 2013 and quickly became one of the best side characters in the games. She had a likable personality, a childlike charm, and a relentless attitude that was still visible in the game’s sequel.

Sackboy: A Big Adventure’s version of Ellie stays faithful to her design in The Last of Us Part II. While it is good, it is also a bit underwhelming because her look in the first game would’ve translated much better in the Sackboy game.

7 Fall Guys

Fall Guys is a cute and colorful platform battle royale title that first came out in 2020 on Windows and PS4. The game was initially a paid title but eventually became free-to-play a few months later when Epic Games became its rightful owner.

The Fall Guys-inspired costumes in Sackboy: A Big Adventure are a perfect fit, as the characters in both games have similar proportions and sizes. The Rookie outfit stands out the most for its iconic design and pink and blue colors.

6 Ratchet

Ratchet is the main protagonist of the iconic Sony franchise, Ratchet & Clank. The guy first appeared in 2002 and has stayed consistently popular over the last two decades. His latest game, Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, recently launched on the PlayStation 5 and is a must-play for console owners.

Ratchet has a unique design, as he is a humanoid cat-like creature who belongs to the Lombax species. He is an intergalactic hero and a skilled mechanic who has cartoony proportions. Hence, his design translates well as Sackboy: A Big Adventure costume.

5 Selene Vassos

For good reasons, many fans consider Returnal to be Sony’s version of Metroid. This PlayStation 5 title is set on a strange planet with alien creatures, a combat system that involves shooting and platforming, and a dark science fiction feel. Moreover, this is the first game in recent times that offers a truly authentic badass female protagonist, Selene Vassos.

Selene is one of the newest names to join the PlayStation army, and rightfully she deserves to be a part of Sackboy: A Big Adventure. Her costume in the platforming title is neat and full of details.

4 Samuel "Sam" Porter Bridges

Samuel "Sam" Porter Bridges is another name that recently joined Sony’s character list and became very popular among the players. He first featured in Kojima’s classic Death Stranding, a game many claimed was just a walking simulator. Sam has become an iconic game character in the last two years, not only because Norman Reedus plays him but also because of his unique outfit design.

Sackboy: A Big Adventure honors Samuel "Sam" Porter Bridges by turning him into a costume in the game. He also comes with the Odradek Terrain Scanner.

3 Jin Sakai

Ghost of Tsushima came in 2020 and even outperformed Naughty Dog’s The Last Of Us Part 2 in terms of popularity. It’s a game about former samurai Jin Sakai, who’s out there to defend Tsushima from invaders. Jin has a cool design, and his iconic mask is something players remember long after playing the game.

Fortunately, Sackboy: A Big Adventure captures the best part of Jin’s getup and works his highly detailed outfit as a costume in the game. Jin’s Sackboy costume comes with a mask and a sword.

2 Deacon St. John

Days Gone is the most underrated Sony title in the last two decades, and it shouldn’t be. It’s a post-apocalyptic game that offers a brilliantly detailed open world, memorable characters, a touching storyline, fun gameplay, and a horde system unmatched by every zombie game currently available to the players.

Fortunately, Sackboy: A Big Adventure tries to keep Days Gone in players’ hearts by converting the awesome main protagonist, Deacon St. John, into a beautiful costume. The Sackboy version of Deacon’s outfit has all the little details, from the walkie-talkie to the worn cap and ripped jeans.

Still, regardless of all the beautiful outfits in the game, the one that shines the brightest is the authentic Sackboy costume. Sackboy: A Big Adventure incorporates everything that made the low-poly Sackboy from the PSP era and gives him a new life with Pixar-like animation work and realistic details.

Sackboy: A Big Adventure on PS5 shows the main protagonist in 4k 60FPS. This time, Sackboy has all minor visual additions, and players can even see each thread sewn into its body. This original character is truly the most iconic costume in the game.

Sackboy: A Big Adventure is available now for PS4 and PS5 and will release on PC on October 27, 2022.
