Monuments in Rust are among the best ways to get scrap, components, and weapons. Rust is full of many monuments, but the game does not clarify which are the best. Many factors will dictate how good a monument is compared to others. High-risk monuments provide better loot, but some early-game monuments provide items for lower risk.

RELATED:Rust Updates Could Introduce Ray Tracing, Backpacks, And MoreRadiation requirements will limit early-game players from accessing certain monuments, as they require clothing. Monuments with radiation provide excellent loot, but non-radiation monuments can give great items and are often overlooked by other players. Many monuments will also require a green, blue, or red card to achieve more loot. Some monuments provide a decent amount of loot without a card, but the best loot will always be locked inside a card room.

6 Abandoned Supermarket

Supermarket monument

Obtaining a green card early game is essential for progression. During the daytime, Abandoned Supermarket is full of ambushes and players. It is best to sneak into Abandoned Supermarket under the cover of the nights of Rust. Abandoned Supermarket is an excellent early-game monument as it provides ample food, a green card, around seven crates, and a military crate.

Be sure to gear up and wear armor to improve the chances of surviving an altercation. Abandoned Supermarket has a recycler that can be risky during the daytime as it is a popular monument for many players early in a wipe.

5 Sewer Branch

blue card blue door

Players will require a green card to complete the puzzle at Sewer Branch. The loot is focused within the puzzle room, so be sure to have lots of inventory space. To start it off, be sure to grab the blue card that is essential to progress to higher-tier loot. Expect around seven regular crates and approximately six green crates inside the puzzle room.

RELATED: Best Rust ServersThere is a recycler and an oil refinery within Sewer Branch, making the safe puzzle room a valuable area for reasons other than loot. It is best to craft a weapon as other players will have weapons such as a revolver or crossbow. Sewer Branch requires at least 10% radiation protection which can be achieved with beginner clothing.

4 Junkyard

Junkyard monument

Junkyard is among the most underestimated monuments in Rust. It provides lots of scrap through barrels and crates, has lots of diesel barrel spawns, and provides a green card. It also has a recycler, and it is positioned to provide defense as it is the highest point of the monument.

The monument has no radiation requirement and will be sprawling with players during the early portions of a wipe. Bow combat will be rampant in Junkyard, but crafting bone arrows will help players land their shots at the cost of reduced damage. Junkyard also contains a magnetic crane and shredder that requires low-grade fuel but will recycle scrapped cars for scrap.

3 Airfield

Airfield monument

Airfield is an open monument with open areas making it challenging to engage with players if they have better weapons. Crafting high-velocity ammo may be a good idea, as the faster bullet velocity will make it easier to shoot at enemies from afar. The loot in Airfield is plentiful and will cause many players to frequent the monument.

Lots of loot is accessible without a card, but the loot room provides valuable loot and a red card. The red card is essential to progress to higher-tier monuments. The puzzle room will spawn around four military crates and four regular crates. Be sure to bring a green card, a blue card, and two fuses for the puzzle.

2 Oil Rig

Oilrig monument

Many players prefer to place their base near Oil Rig, as it provides late-game loot. Oil Rig is among the hardest monuments but provides excellent loot. Players must bring all three cards to get the most out of Oil Rig. The locked Oil Rig crate provides the best loot in the monument but will release heavy scientists that are difficult to kill and are lethal to players if caught off guard.

RELATED: All CCTV Camera Codes (& How To Use Them)The locked crate can provide rare loot, such as a C4, assault rifle, LR-300, and a rocket launcher. Since Oil Rig provides excellent loot, many players will attempt to contest the monument. Defending Oil Rig can be lucrative as they will be at a disadvantage and will provide weapons and loot if players are successful at defending.

1 Launch Site

Launch site bradley apc monument

Undertaking Launch Site is a difficult task as it is the most contested monument in the game. Launch Site is the largest monument in the game and provides the most loot. There are numerous crates outside the loot room and in the surrounding buildings. The loot outside will be scattered and requires players to stay on guard for a potential ambush from enemy players.

To protect all the loot outside, players will need to navigate around the Bradley APC. Taking down Bradley is best recommended to two or three players, as it requires 11 regular rockets or seven high-velocity rockets to take down. It is best to stick to crafting high-velocity rockets as it will be faster and leave fewer chances for enemies to ambush players reloading rocket launchers. Bradley provides elite crates and can spawn an M249. The puzzle room requires a hazmat suit to reduce the amount of radiation taken. Players need lots of syringes and water as they will receive constant radiation despite wearing a hazmat suit. The puzzle room will spawn around three elite crates and seven military crates. Regular crates will spawn all over the puzzle room building.

Rust is available now for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
