Shortly after Alfred Molina openly let some secrets spill about his role in the upcoming Spider-Man: No Way Home, another actor is getting loose-lipped with some MCU secrets. Russell Crowe not only confirmed that he will indeed be a part of the cast of Thor: Love and Thunder, but he also announced he would be playing Zeus in the movie.

The Twitter account @tlatnews shared a clip of Crowe's recent call-in interview with Australian radio station JOY 94.9 where he spilled the beans. Quite casually, Crowe mentioned that he will be heading over to the set and will finish his last day of filming on the movie in the role of Zeus.

This very straightforward confirmation comes after last month's rumors of Crowe joining the Thor sequel after he was seen hanging out with several of the movie's cast members. Thor: Love and Thunder will see Chris Hemsworth return as the God of Thunder, making him the first MCU hero to star in four solo movies. Crowe will be joined by the likes of Natalie Portman as Jane Foster, Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie, and Christian Bale as the villain Gorr the God Butcher. And though Crowe's role will likely be smaller, he will be joining a number of cameoing stars, including Matt Damon, Sam Neil, and Melissa McCarthy.

Just like with the Norse gods like Thor, within the Marvel universe, the gods of Greek mythology exist but are simply beings from another dimension. Zeus is a member of the Olympian race from the dimension known as Olympus. Interestingly, this is the first time these two factions of Marvel gods converging in the MCU. This could also open the door for other characters like Hercules who later became a fan-favorite member of the Avengers.

With Crowe's confirmation of his character, it seems as though Thor: Love and Thunder will be a bigger movie than anyone was expecting. Not only will it be dealing with Thor's battle against Gorr, but it will also deal with Jane Foster's epic return, Thor's adventures with the Guardians of the Galaxy, and now possibly the introduction of an entirely new corner of the Marvel universe. Again, Crowe's role will likely be a small one though it seems to have some big implications. It will be interesting to see if he serves as a mentor figure to Thor now that Odin is gone. In any case, Crowe is a very talented actor and it will be great to see him having fun in Taika Waititi's crazy superhero world.

Thor: Love and Thunder is set to hit theaters on May 6, 2022.
