The latest addition to the action RPG Rune Factory series, Rune Factory 5, was launched in March 2022, merely four months ago for the Nintendo Switch. Fans of the franchise have been looking forward to the newest iteration, given that the development of Rune Factory 5 was announced eight years after Rune Factory 4 was released for the Nintendo 3DS. Now, the video game is heading to PC platforms via Steam, and fans will be able to play the title on their desktop devices.
Beyond a new storyline and setting, Rune Factory 5 introduced new features into the series. This includes the same-sex marriage options in Rune Factory 5, which some in the game's community consider groundbreaking as it has never been implemented in the series before. However, most of the gameplay experience remains the same as the previous titles, with players needing to farm, craft, befriend villagers, and defeat monsters as they go through the title's main story.
Just recently, Rune Factory 5 made the announcement that the action RPG is making its way onto the PC platform via Steam. The title will be released on July 13, 2022. According to the official PC trailer posted on YouTube, there will be some visual improvements and more customization options in the Steam version. However, the developers have not given any details as to what these changes might be. Two versions of the game can be purchased on Steam, the standard version will cost $59.99 while the Digital Deluxe edition is priced at $69.99. Those who pre-order before Rune Factory 5's PC release date can avail of the current 15% discount and also receive in-game bonuses such as character outfits and an item pack.
Fans who own and have played the Rune Factory 4 Special PC version will receive bonuses if they also purchase Rune Factory 5 on Steam. This includes some outfits and special NPC visits of characters from RF4. The PC version will also be available in different languages, and features such as Steam Trading Cards and achievements will also be implemented. For gamers who look forward to these specific Steam features and are also fans of the Rune Factory series, these might be good incentives to purchase the video game.
With the release date less than three weeks away, fans do not have to wait long to play through and enjoy the new story that Rune Factory 5 has to offer. However, hopefully the development team will also share the notable changes and improvements they have made for the PC version soon.
