Masahiro Ito, the Silent Hill artist responsible for bringing the world such iconic creatures as Pyramid Head, is hinting that they may be returning to the series, with new projects and remakes being heavily rumored lately. With the tragic loss of Hideo Kojima and Guillermo del Toro's P.T. back in 2015, so many fans have been hoping for a new entry in the legendary horror series. So far, nothing has been confirmed, but there have been plenty of leaks and speculations that either a new game, or at least a remake, is in development.Recently, Konami did state some Silent Hill news is coming on October 19 at 2PM PDT, though exactly what's going to be announced has yet to be stated. After so many years, this could be the proclamation that gamers have been waiting for. While some will be convinced the news will be in relation to a series reboot, some may be a bit skeptical as to what the publisher has up its sleeve, especially considering the company has not shown much interest in the Silent Hill franchise since severing ties with Kojima.RELATED: New Silent Hill Game Rated in KoreaHowever, a series of tweets from Ito once again leans towards the idea that a new Silent Hill project is in the works, with the possibility that the artist may be getting involved. The posts on Twitter appear to show times, most likely running down the clock to when Konami will make its announcement. Ito worked on the original SH trilogy, being the chief monster designer on the games. By far, Pyramid Head, who makes their first appearance in the second game, is the most well-known character in the franchise. They even feature in the 2006 movie adaptation despite canonically not making sense, as Pyramid Head is supposed to be a representation of James Sunderland's psyche in Silent Hill 2.

Speaking of the adaptations, the director of the first film Christophe Gans says Konami is making multiple Silent Hill games and that he is working with the team, adding that Konami is reviving the franchise. With all these rumors going around, it's tough for any fan not to get their hopes up.

As well as new games, other speculations state that Bloober Team is remaking Silent Hill 2, but again there has been no official confirmation on this. Bloober is responsible for such horror hits as Layers of Fear and 2021's The Medium. Whatever Konami has in store for the long-dormant series should be made clear soon. So long as it's not Pachinko machines or NFTs, most should be happy with the revelation.

Numerous Silent Hill games are rumored to be in development.
