As Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom will celebrate its first anniversary this May, Nintendo is allegedly planning a surprise for fans to mark the occasion. While Nintendo didn’t have any big plans for The Legend of Zelda 35th anniversary, the company will still give fans a little surprise to commemorate the first year of Tears of the Kingdom.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom came out on May 12, 2023. It continued the adventures of Link and Zelda following the events of 2017’s Breath of the Wild and introduced new mechanics to the series, such as the ability to fuse elements and build vehicles. Tears of the Kingdom was a massive commercial success, selling over 10 million copies three days after its release. This latest installment in The Legend of Zelda series quickly became one of the best-selling games on Nintendo Switch, with fans sharing their adventures across Hyrule and the custom vehicles they built to roam through this land.

Future Legend of Zelda titles can take influence from both the successful Breath of the Wild and its acclaimed sequel, Tears of the Kingdom.

To celebrate the upcoming first anniversary of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom, Nintendo is reportedly planning to release an official soundtrack for the game. The rumor comes from Nintendo Everything and indicates that Nippon Columbia would allegedly publish this album, which would be available in Japan at the end of July. Fans will have the opportunity to rediscover the songs from Tears of the Kingdom on a standard or limited edition of the official soundtrack. While Nintendo hasn’t confirmed these rumors yet, the company and Nippon Columbia made a similar announcement in 2018 for the first anniversary of Breath of the Wild.

Nintendo Highlights Music From The Legend of Zelda Series

The Legend of Zelda series has always been praised for its soundtrack, and Tears of the Kingdom is no exception. Ocarina Of Time has one of the best game soundtracks of all time, with Zelda's Lullaby and the Gerudo Valley theme considered by fans as staples when it comes to game music. To highlight the importance of music in the Zelda series, Nintendo featured a nod to the previous games of the franchise in Tears of the Kingdom. When Link cooks, he hums melodies from his past adventures, such as Zelda's Lullaby from 1991’s Link to the Past or Ballad of the Goddess from 2011’s Skyward Sword.

Fans have also begun to celebrate the upcoming first anniversary of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom. A creative Tears of the Kingdom player built and launched “festive” rockets to celebrate the game’s anniversary, wreaking havoc on a bokoblin camp that received the fireworks’ falling rockets.
