  • Lara Croft could be the next Survivor in Dead by Daylight following the current Dungeons & Dragons chapter.
  • Speculation of a Walking Dead crossover event has been dismissed by a reliable Dead by Daylight leaker.

As Dead by Daylight enters its ninth year, fans of the asymmetrical horror game are seeing more and more licensed characters arrive as DLC. Following recent speculation on July’s upcoming Survivor, a reliable source has leaked that Tomb Raider’s Lara Croft could be the next icon to feature in Dead by Daylight.

During the eighth anniversary livestream for the game, Product Director Justin Brown gave fans their first tease of what would follow Dungeons & Dragons in 2024. Called a “licensed Survivor” and a “character that truly embodies the meaning of that word,” players were left speculating on the possibility of a potential Walking Dead crossover event – speculation that has been dismissed by a notorious Dead by Daylight leaker.

Dead by Daylight Year 9 Roadmap Revealed

Dead by Daylight's developer reveals the roadmap for year nine, which sees Dungeons and Dragons and Castlevania come to the game.

YouTube user Gumpy887 is famous for accurately predicted the reveals of Chucky, Alan Wake, Vecna, and Castlevania in Dead by Daylight. Now, they have waved away claims that AMC’s The Walking Dead will be the focus of July’s Survivor-only Chapter, stating that while there is interest, “there wasn’t space for it this year.” Instead, Gumpy guesses that Tomb Raider’s acrobatic aristocrat, Lara Croft, will be the featured Survivor, scheduled to release at the end of next month.

Lara Croft Potentially Being Added as A Survivor In Dead By Daylight

While it may seem odd for an action-adventure game character to appear as a Survivor in Dead by Daylight, the prospect isn’t unheard of in the storied realm of The Entity. With Dungeons & Dragons taking center stage during Dead by Daylight’s eighth-anniversary festivities this month, another non-horror-related character showing up doesn’t seem entirely out of place. Further supporting Gumpy’s claims, Lara Croft has been featured in several crossover events in games like Fortnite and Call of Duty.

Sporting a redesigned look that hearkens back to her OG PlayStation days, Lara made a new name for herself as a hardened hero in the Survivor Trilogy which launched with the Tomb Raider reboot in 2013. In these titles, Lara was put through her paces in a variety of extreme environments – from blizzard-blown mountains, to stormy seas, and deadly jungles – pushing her skills to the limit. With this in mind, she absolutely embodies a successful Survivor.

Lara Croft is also no stranger to facing off against supernatural specters either. In fact, Dead by Daylight’s demonic Oni could easily feature as a member of the Sun Queen’s undying Stormguard, who hunt Lara throughout Tomb Raider (2013). She’s also fought off a few literal gods, as well as ghouls, ghosts, and enough undead to fill almost 30 years of games, making her perhaps the most qualified Survivor to ever enter The Fog. With the Public Test Beta typically launching a few weeks before the live release, players don’t have long to wait before they get official news on the next Chapter of Dead by Daylight.
