Nintendo might be planning a major amiibo restock in the near future, as suggested by some newly emerged evidence. The Japanese gaming giant last restocked select Zelda amiibo in April as part of a move that helped set the stage for Tears of the Kingdom's May 12 release.

First-party Nintendo games have been fairly consistent in offering amiibo support ever since the company launched its hit toys-to-life platform back in late 2014. But most of its figurines aren't produced continuously, and their restocks historically hinged on related game releases and events, and are thus few and far between.

Nevertheless, Nintendo might be resuming production of many popular amiibo in the coming months, as suggested by some restock notifications from Greek storefront GameExplorers. The notices, first spotted by Reddit user DeathNum, appear to suggest that over two dozen Super Smash Bros. amiibo are slated for reprints in the coming months. The first wave of returnees is seemingly slated for August 28, when GameExplorers is expecting to have 10 such figurines back in stock. The second one will take place on November 10, with that date also marking the return of some other amiibo unrelated to Super Smash Bros., as per the same source.

The fan who spotted the newly emerged reprint notices further speculated that Nintendo might be planning a Super Smash Bros. announcement of some kind in September, right in the middle of the two restocks. Elaborating on that claim, they pointed to the partial Zelda amiibo restock that took place in early January and was still ongoing by the time the company held a largely Tears of the Kingdom-focused Nintendo Direct a month later.

While that theory is highly speculative, the notion of a late summer or early fall product broadcast from Nintendo is not out of the question. Namely, the last time that the company didn't hold a September Nintendo Direct was all the way back in 2015. But even if such an event does end up taking place in 2023, it remains to be seen whether it actually yields any Super Smash Bros. news, not least because Nintendo hasn't yet confirmed that these alleged amiibo reprints are actually happening.

Several popular amiibo series have already reemerged on store shelves over the course of 2023. The aforementioned Zelda restock saw the return of four versions of Link from Ocarina of Time, Majora's Mask, and Twilight Princess, and right in the middle of that two-part reprint, Nintendo restocked many popular Mario amiibo ahead of the 2023 Mar10 Day on March 10.
