Insider Teases Length and Number of Games for Xbox Games Showcase

An insider reveals just how much content players may be able to expect from the upcoming Xbox Games Showcase on June 9.

According to a new report from The Verge and Tom Warren, Fable is likely going to have a big presence at the show. Considering all the reports of Fable's rough development, the team at Playground Games seems to be ready to narrow down the game's launch window to 2025. While unconfirmed, many fans are hoping to see actual gameplay this year, which would also help to hammer home the point that Fable seems to be beyond the reported troubles that seemingly plagued its development earlier on.

Will Fable be an Xbox Exclusive?

Recently, Microsoft has seemingly placed a bigger emphasis on bringing former console exclusives to more platforms, with Sea of Theives, Pentiment, Grounded, and Hi-Fi Rush all recently making the jump to PlayStation. However, new reports also indicate that both Fable and Compulsion Games' South of Midnight are not being considered for Project Latitude, Microsoft's rumored internal plan for games that make the jump to other platforms. Essentially, if this is true, this means that Fable and South of Midnight are planned to remain Xbox console exclusives at least at launch. Microsoft could easily change its mind months or years after the fact.

In addition to Fable and South of Midnight, rumors have been swirling about other potential Microsoft announcements at its upcoming showcase. It appears that a new DOOM game could be revealed and not only that, it could very well be getting a multiplatform release as well. However, for many fans, the big announcement may be the long rumored Xbox Handheld Console finally being announced, at least as a teaser. It's currently unknown what sort of device this portable Xbox would be, whether it would mainly be streaming oriented or actually attempting to go head-to-head with Valve's Steam Deck or Asus ROG Ally.
