A new leak for Dragon Age: Dreadwolf suggests that it may not come out anytime soon as some important features are still missing from the game. Dragon Age: Dreadwolf is the sequel to 2014’s Dragon Age: Inquisition, and it marks the fourth mainline entry in the Dragon Age franchise. Dragon Age: Dreadwolf has reportedly undergone a change in direction since its inception, as BioWare has confirmed it to be a single-player game.

This wasn’t always the case, as Dragon Age: Dreadwolf was planned as a live service experience with multiplayer gameplay. EA and BioWare completely changed the direction and focus to match the single-player nature of the previous games, presumably due to the success of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order and to avoid any potential fate similar to Anthem. Now, a ton of information about Dragon Age: Dreadwolf has been leaked, including the current state of the title and some of its gameplay elements.

As revealed by sources close to Insider Gaming, the release date of Dragon Age: Dreadwolf may be further away than the previously rumored 2023 launch window. The report doesn’t mention any new tentative date for Dreadwolf, but it could come out in 2024, resulting in a massive 10-year gap between its predecessor Dragon Age: Inquisition. The sources also give an update on the progress BioWare has made on Dreadwolf, claiming that it still lacks features and completed voice lines, while having elements from its live service roots.

According to two sources, the multiplayer aspects of Dragon Age: Dreadwolf can still be seen in the current version of the game, with one making comparisons to Destiny and the central hub. The report states that Dragon Age: Dreadwolf will involve recruiting party members and growing the main crew, who will then populate the hub and allow users to change their equipment. This sounds fairly similar to how Skyhold worked as a hub in Dragon Age: Inquisition, so Dreadwolf may feature the same gameplay loop.

As Dragon Age: Dreadwolf started as a live service game and changed its direction midway through development, it probably comes as no surprise to see BioWare take such a long time to develop the game. A 2023 release looks out of the question judging by this report, so fans will probably have to wait until 2024 or even later to play Dreadwolf. However, players should take every rumor or leak with a grain of salt, and wait for official information from the development team on the progress of the game.
