Epic Games has a new free-to-play battle royale game coming soon. Over the past several months, developer Iron Galaxy has been holding several increasingly large playtests for its battle royale, Rumbleverse. These tests have drawn a significant amount of attention to Rumbleverse, which stands out with its unique pro-wrestling-themed action gameplay. It's worked out so well that Iron Galaxy feels confident enough to fully launch Rumbleverse sooner than expected.Rumbleverse will now officially launch on August 11 and will be available on PC, PlayStation, and Xbox. As promised, Rumbleverse will be launching as a free-to-play game, so all interested players will be able to download and play once the game goes live on launch day. There are no codes required. Iron Galaxy had previously said that it planned to have an early access period before fulling launching the game, but playtests have persuaded the team to fully launch straight away.RELATED: Iron Galaxy Studios Hires David 'DeeJ' Dague as Head of CommunicationAs promised, Iron Galaxy will also be delivering a long-awaited featured coinciding with the launch of Rumbleverse. Playtests so far have revolved around single-player action, but players have been asking for group queues, too. Launch will see the delivery of Duos so that two players can join a match together. It's a missed opportunity to call it Tag Teams, but at least friends can soon group up. There's no word on three or four-player queues yet.

One other announcement made alongside today's Rumbleverse release date reveal is Iron Galaxy's plans for Season One. The first season of Rumbleverse's live service will be slightly delayed from launch if only to allow Iron Galaxy to address any unexpected major concerns. Season One will start one week after release and will include Rumbleverse's first Battle Pass, packed full of Locker Room cosmetics. Full details about the Battle Pass have yet to be confirmed, but it's unlikely to deviate from the norm.

Regarding some various housekeeping information, Iron Galaxy has confirmed that Rumbleverse will support crossplay between all platforms. Those playing on console will also be able to access the game without paying for online subscriptions like Xbox Live Gold or PlayStation Plus. Since the game is free-to-play, it will be monetized in various ways. An in-game cosmetic shop has already been confirmed, in addition to the battle pass.

Rumbleverse's quickly-approaching launch is going to surprise even its fans. In many ways, it feels like Rumbleverse has yet to be properly debuted to a broader audience. While there's been some attention surrounding its playtests, it hasn't necessarily gone virally popular or anything of the sort. There are also questions regarding post-launch support for Rumbleverse. A Battle Pass with cosmetics is one thing, but there's no word on whether Rumbleverse's map will change, if there's a story to be told, or any other typical battle royale content necessary for long-term player retention. Hopefully, more information will be shared ahead of August.

Rumbleverse releases August 11 on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
