For a dungeon crawler like Rotwood, your ability to handle weapons and combat determines the success rate of each expedition. There are currently four weapon types to choose from, each designed with unique combat mechanics. They all come with light, heavy, and focus attacks that can be linked together for impressive combos.

Rotwood encourages players to discover all the possible combos themselves. Below is a list of every combo discovered so far for all the weapons in the game.

Note that Rotwood remains in Steam's early access. Klei Entertainment might act on feedback to add or tweak existing weapons and combos. If that happens, the information below will be updated to reflect changes.

Rotwood: How To Beat Mother Treek

Mother Treek is the first real challenge of Rotwood, and it is most likely going to take a couple of attempts before you are finally able to win.

The Hammer Combos in Rotwood

Rotwood - Hammer Rack

The Hammer is unlocked by default as the starting weapon in Rotwood. Its light and heavy attacks can be stringed together for powerful combos, especially with charged Focus attacks. The good thing about the Hammer is that its combos are easy to pull off by new players in Rotwood. They can also be linked with rolls, so you can start a new combo string every time you dodge an enemy.

Hammer

Inputs

Description

Crumbling Hammer

Light + Light + Heavy + Heavy (Hold)

The standard combo that ends up with a mighty ground slam to hit multiple enemies.

Roll + Back + Heavy (Hold)

Dodge before turning around to smash multiple enemies with a giant swing.

Roll + Back + Light + Heavy (Hold)

Dodge before performing a cyclone attack that hits all surrounding enemies.

Roll + Forward + Light + Heavy (Hold)

Ends with a standing Focus attack instead of the default overhead hit.

Order in the Court Skill (Spam)

Increase attack speed by spamming the Skill button when the hammer hits the ground.

The Spear Combos in Rotwood

Rotwood Spear

The Spear is both an easy and hard weapon to use in Rotwood. It gives the most mobility among all weapons to players who like dancing in and out of enemies. Its main Focus attack, however, is only triggered by hitting enemies with the tip of the Spear. This requires properly distancing yourself from enemies, making it difficult for combos. Thankfully, the Spear has a second combo that is not only easier but can also be spammed repeatedly. If you find a power that heals per kill, the Spear can practically make you invincible.

Rusty Skewer

Light + Light + Light + Heavy

The standard combo that ends with a multi-strike attack.

Roll + Light

The bread-and-butter combo. Hit multiple enemies as a spinning drill.

The Cannon Combos in Rotwood

Rotwood Cannon

The Cannon is designed as a purely ranged weapon that fires acorns. It is the most expensive weapon to unlock and the hardest weapon to master, so you might want to reconsider spending your Corestones in Rotwood. This is because you lose the ability to dash or roll. The only way to dodge enemies is to use heavy attacks, which push you back due to recoil.

Cannon

Inputs

Description

Splintered Cannon

Roll + Heavy (Hold and Release)

Perform a mortar attack with all the ammo currently in the Cannon.

Light + Light + Light + Roll + Heavy (Spam)

Stand your ground with light attacks before expending all the Focus ammo in a mortar attack.

Heavy + Heavy + Roll + Heavy (Spam)

Do two heavy blasts with a mortar attack.

The Striker Combos in Rotwood

Rotwood Striker

The Striker is undoubtedly the best weapon in Rotwood. You bounce two ball-shaped weapons at enemies for a barrage of powerful attacks. While it can take some time to get used to the juggling mechanics, the Striker comes in really handy against high-mobility bosses such as Owlitzer. Remember you have to hit the ball before it touches the ground to trigger the Focus attack. Hitting balls on the ground does not do bonus damage.

Striker

Inputs

Description

Old Leather Striker

Light + Light + Light (Spam)

The standard melee combo that starts with two claw swipes and ends with a headbutt.

Heavy (Throw) + Heavy (Throw) + Light (Return) + Light (Return)

The standard airborne juggle combo that requires a bit of timing.

Heavy (Throw) + Heavy (Throw) + Light (Return) + Heavy (Return)

Another variation of the standard juggle that might be easier for players with a habit of mashing buttons.

Roll + Back + Light

Dodge before turning back to throw a swift kick at the nearest enemy.

Roll + Light

Throws a quick punch after dodging. Can also knock out enemies with the right power-up.
