The filming for the upcoming Star Wars show Ahsoka is apparently going along smoothly, and series star Rosario Dawson seems to hold a pretty high appraisal of the production. Shooting began earlier this year, but it looks as though there's still a bit of a way to go before everything's all wrapped up.
During her tour to promote the tradition-breaking Clerks III, Dawson briefly spoke with Screen Rant, who asked for any updates she can offer about the production of Ahsoka. As a highly-anticipated series featuring a fan-favorite character who's slowly been winning over fans since her debut in the animated Star Wars: The Clone Wars show, fans are no doubt eager to hear of any new developments. Luckily, Dawson appears just as excited about the project as the audience, and maybe even more so.
"Yes, we're still filming it right now," Dawson said when asked about Ahsoka's progress as of early September. "We just have a couple months left. It's going great." Granted, that's not a whole lot of info to go on, but it does give a pretty solid picture of the time frame. Filming for Ahsoka began in May, so it seems likely that they've at least passed the halfway point by now. However, that wasn't all that Dawson had to say.
"It's really amazing learning martial arts in my 40s," she continued, offering insight into her own experience with the show. "It's super amazing, and I don't use that word very lightly. My grandmother used to say, 'Amazing is two blue horses,' if you ever said something was amazing. Because it'd be like, 'No, amazing is two blue horses. That pizza slice probably isn't amazing.'" The whole blue horse thing is certainly an interesting choice. Though these noble creatures can absolutely be amazing, as proven by Skyrim's famously hardy wild horses.
Ahsoka will be set around the same time period as The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett, both of which featured cameos from Dawson as her beloved Togruta character. Ahsoka Tano debuted in Star Wars: The Clone Wars as the brash young apprentice to Anakin Skywalker. But she spent the following years coming into her own, eventually leaving the Jedi Order after ultimately disagreeing with their ways of doing things. She eventually appeared in Star Wars Rebels, where she was seen in the final episode joining Mandalorian warrior Sabine Wren in a journey to find young Jedi Ezra Bridger, who disappeared in a heroic gambit along with the cunning Grand Admiral Thrawn.
Based on her appearance on The Mandalorian, it looks as though Ahsoka is still on the trail of Thrawn and Ezra, and signs have pointed to both characters appearing in her upcoming series. So here's hoping the wait before its ultimate release will go by nice and quickly.
Star Wars: Ahsoka is set to release in 2023 on Disney Plus.
