The rogue-lite called Roguebook will be hitting the newest generation consoles on the 24th of February. In preparation for these new drops, players may need some hints to get started in this unique deck builder video game. One of the first things that players will want to do is unlock New Run +.
New Run + in Roguebook
Roguebook is the newest game by Magic: the Gathering's Richard Garfield. As players begin the game, they will find paths carved out of inks in the pages of a haunted book. Two heroes, Sharra Dragonslayer and Sorocco, are ready to take on all the villains in this magical story in order to make their way out of the pages and back home. Along with the ability to unlock new heroes, new cards, new gems, and even New Run+.
New Run + opens up a lot more options for players. It allows players to make encounters more challenging and change the state of the map around them with Difficulty Levels; the rewards for these more intense challenges are increasing numbers of book pages which allows for the unlocking of even more Embellishments. Embellishments can change just about everything in the game from the amount of damage players take, the amount of starting gold, and even the types of Roguebook gems that players will have chances to earn.
How to Unlock New Run+ in Roguebook
In order to unlock New Run+, players will need to defeat the three chapters of Roguebook. There is a boss at the end of each of these chapters, each one more difficult than the last. The first boss will be one of the two unlockable heroes: Seifer. After he is defeated, players will need to delve even further into the book, spreading ink and unlocking new cards and pages. After players have defeated the whole three chapters with any combination of heroes, New Run+ will finally unlock.
How Difficulty Levels Work in New Run+
Difficulty Levels or Ascension Levels in Roguebook are a little similar to those in other deck builders like Slay the Spire. Players can raise the level of difficulty in order to get better rewards. Each level of difficulty added in New Run+ will give players additional pages in each run. Pages can be used to unlock even Embellishments to make their drops better and their heroes stronger. Some examples of ascensions in the game are:
- Prices increase in the store while giving players more fairies.
- Elites do more damage.
- Consumable inks are given at the beginning instead of brushes.
Roguebook is currently available for PC, and will be available for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series S/X on February 24, 2022. The Switch version will be available in April or May 2022.
