In the deckbuilding roguelite Roguebook, players will have to pit their party of heroes against a number of dangerous creatures in order to find their way out of the book they are stuck in. At the end of all three chapters of Roguebook, there is a boss battle, and it can be one of several bosses.

The Bosses of Chapter 1 of Roguebook

As players wind their way through the pages of Chapter 1 of Roguebook, they will take on a number of both basic and Elite battles that will deplete their HP and challenge their decks. Then, at the end of the chapter, they even have to battle against the boss, making surviving through this beginning phase and into the next difficult, especially as players begin ascending through the Difficulty Levels. These fights are never easy, but having a few clues as to what might be awaiting the heroes may help in preparing for this difficult fight.

Seifer, Blood Tyrant

Roguebook: All Keywords

The first boss that players will come across in Chapter 1 of this roguelite adventure game is Seifer. Until he is defeated, players will have to take on this blood mage every time they get to the end of this chapter. When players have defeated him once, he will remember who he is and join the band of a player's possible heroes. But until this battle is won, players won't be able to proceed to chapter two or unlock this hero for their teams.

  • Seifer will only do standard attacks and buffs to himself for the first half of his health.
  • When Seifer has less than half health, he will go into Rage mode, doubling or even tripling his damage.
  • In Rage mode, he replaces all of his buffs for himself with debuffs for the heroes.
  • Players will heal to full health if this battle is successfully completed, so don't be afraid to lose some health.
  • Switching Sharra and Socorro back and forth to distribute the damage between them will help. Players will not have access to any of the other characters at this time, since players need to kill Seifer in order to unlock him, and both Fugoro and Roguebook's Aurora are locked behind New Run +.
  • Players will want to ready themselves with high-powered debuffs from Roguebook's Gems and attack spells in their deck.

Other Chapter 1 Boss Possibilities in Roguebook

The Deepwood Stalker

Roguebook: All Chapter 1 Bosses
  • This spider-like plant casts Webbing on players nearly every turn, which reduces the leading hero's power by 1 until the end of battle. These continue to stack regardless of whether or not the damage is blocked.
  • In order to defeat it, players should focus on dealing damage rather than blocking when possible.
  • Focus on buffs to counter this critter's debuffs.
  • Allies are great against this Stalker, since its debuffs don't hit them. This is especially true for the more difficult levels of this boss found in Roguebook's New Run +.

The Tiki Palanquin

Roguebook-Tiki
The Tiki Palanquin
  • In Richard Garfield's Roguebook, the Tiki Palanquin is not really three people; these three all attack and take damage as one. But they can be targeted individually.
  • If the Front Bearer takes 25 damage in one turn, the three gain the Weak Keyword until the end of the turn.
  • If the Back Bearer takes 25 damage, the three gain the Vulnerable Keyword until the end of the turn.
  • The Tiki will alternately cast Weak and Vulnerable on heroes in the front row.
  • These three are fairly easy to kill; players don't really need a strategy to get rid of them. Make sure to block as much damage as possible and deal out as much damage as possible.

Krog, Ogre Tyrant

Roguebook-Krog
Krog, Ogre Tyrant
  • In this deck-builder video game, the boss Krog's main move is to summon Krog's Dinner summons and eat them to gain strength.
  • Players can kill the summons before he eats them in order to prevent this from happening.
  • Krog also deals Piercing damage every few hits, which means that any unblocked damage is dealt to both heroes.
  • In order to defeat him, worry less about taking damage and aim to deal as much as possible.
  • Kill his summons before he can eat them; each summon eaten gives 4 power, which is a big buff to overcome if players miss one of the dinners.

Roguebook is currently available for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S. A Switch version will be available in April or May 2022.
