In the first biome of Rogue Legacy 2, Citadel Agartha, there’s a Memory Fragment: a blue orb that whispers a thousand voices but not a word. It’s one of the early-game secrets in Rogue Legacy 2, which is only deciphered after beating Aesop of the Tome’s challenge.
For newer players, this probably sounds a bit confusing, which is understandable really. However, as the game goes on, players will eventually learn how to read Memories, which will be important for those hoping to better understand the world of Rogue Legacy 2.
What Are Memory Fragments?
In Rogue Legacy 2, Memory Fragments are pieces of information about the lore that are scattered around the map. The Memories are often lost notes of previous rulers and knights that explain what happened in the Kingdom. By reading them, characters’ backstories develop, and new abilities unlock.
How to Attune to Memory Fragments?
To read Memory Fragments, players will first need to complete the Power of Empathy challenge and earn Aesop’s Tome. With this Heirloom, Memories decipher, and their “thousand whispers” turn into legible notes. Aesop’s challenge is a part of Inner Demon Insight, which starts with a riddle, He Who Gives You Two Choices Hides a Third.
How to Beat the Power of Empathy Challenge?
On the first platform, and after reading the first Memory, players need to jump down to enter the hidden path, which is right below the blue orb. From there, they'll want to cross the obstacles and take out the enemies in six waves to beat the challenge and obtain the Power of Empathy.
Here are detailed guides for each Inner Demon’s room.
- Room #1: Spin-kick the spinning lanterns. The goal here is to reach the highest platform by jumping over the obstacles.
- Room #2: While in the red halos, dodge backward or forward immediately after each move. Otherwise, the Nightmares activate after each jump, dash, or attack.
- Room #3: Press the interact button near the Nightmares. This comes them down, stopping them from shooting projectiles.
- Room #4: Break the platforms that the skeletons are standing on. Do not engage.
- Room #5: Break the first six platforms and stand on the seventh one.
- Room #6: Calm the Nightmares and kill the waves of enemies. Finally, leave the room to acquire Aesop’s Tome.
Barbarian is the best Rogue Legacy 2 class for the Power of Empathy challenge. It has the highest HP and can freeze enemies when needed.
What Abilities Does the Aesop’s Tome Have in Rogue Legacy 2?
Aesop’s Tome grants the Power of Empathy, which is the ability to attune to Memory Fragments. It also grants the ability to calm Nightmares and put them to sleep for a while.
