Like most other modern roguelike games, Rogue Legacy 2 has an in-game upgrade currency, which, in this case, are known as Soul Stones. These unique stones have a variety of uses, enabling players to upgrade their skills, weapons, and manor.

They are an incredibly useful resource, so it's understandable why some players would be keen to learn how to find Soul Stones in Rogue Legacy 2 and how best to spend them. This guide offers the answers to both of those questions as well as four methods for grinding them.

What Are Soul Stones?

In Rogue Legacy 2, Soul Stones are a special currency that unlocks skills and upgrades at the Soul Shop. With this item, players can increase the chance of finding better weapons, advance their classes, and even exchange resources to buy new gear.

How to Earn Soul Stones in Rogue Legacy 2

To collect Soul Stones, players will need to beat Scar Challenges at the Drift House. Other ways to earn Soul Stones include talking to other characters, defeating the six primary bosses, and buying them at the Soul Shop using Aether and Ore. The amount of Soul Stones rewarded for these tasks increases in NG+.

1. Complete the Scar Challenges

Talk to Geras the Caretaker at the Drift House and accept the Scar Challenges, the side quests that give Soul Stones. For a lucrative farm, players should try to earn the Gold medal for each challenge.

2. Exchange Aether and Ore for Soul

At the Drift House, players can talk to the Keres Siblings to enter the Soul Shop. Once there, they'll need to scroll down to “Strange Transaction” and change Aether and Ore to Soul Stones. This is not the best way of farming Soul Stones, however, as it has an exchange fee.

3. Finish the NPC Dialogues

Starting a conversation with other characters in the village gives up to 500 Soul Stones. However, the catch is that most dialogues are long and mostly end during the final quests. Even so, it’s a grind-free method for farming Soul Stones, as it requires no additional action.

4. Beat the Estuaries.

The prize for defeating the six final bosses in Rogue Legacy 2 is Soul Stones. Before NewGame+, each Estuary gives about 100 Souls, but the battles become more rewarding after getting the True Ending.

How to Unlock the Soul Shop in Rogue Legacy 2

To unlock the Soul Shop, players will need to beat Estuary Lamech, the first Estuary in the game. It resides in Citadel Agartha and is easy to defeat as long as there’s enough space to dodge its attacks.

How to Spend Soul Stones Effectively

Players should spend the first batch of Soul Stones on upgrading Embroidered Investment. It increases the weapon level capacity, unlocking high-level equipment. With any remaining Soul Stones, players can upgrade Runes Horizons, which grants stronger Runes. Embroidered Investment is a tricky emblem though, and it’s best to upgrade it to level 2 or more after finding all 0 weapons.

Rogue Legacy 2 is available now for Xbox, Switch, and PC.
